Multitasking on the Move
Multitasking on the Move

Here’s minor new feature that will help your wolf communicate. The technical term is “animation mixing” but you can think of it as multitasking for your wolf. At long last, you can wag your tail while on the move! Or show a dominant tail while trotting! Or a submissive tail while fleeing. Now you can grin, whine, or growl without stopping because all of those emotes will now keep playing even if you start moving — just like a real wolf can do! New players probably won’t appreciate such a natural ability–of course my wolf can do more than one thing at time. But players accustomed to the current, simpler system (only emoting while stationary) are going to love this additional freedom.
As with every simple idea and, in this case, the fairly basic technical implementation, there are always complications. Some don’t appear until you’ve spent some time thinking and working on it [selects whining emote while testing]. We’ve worked through most of those now and we can’t wait to see the new ways players communicate!
And we have one empty slot in the Tail emote panel, so we’re making a new tail wag animation: higher and more confident. If the WQ team had tails, that’s how we would be wagging today!

Re: Multitasking on the Move
Amazing! All of it is beautiful and amazing. I love how realistic the terrain is for one, very nice looking. I think my two favorites so far are the tail up while running and ears flat while running. I can see both either making a difference during wolf encounters or not making any difference at all. Will we be able to whine and have flattened ears while running?

It's going to be very fun to wag my tail as I bolt off With the rest of my pack!
Keep it up my friends! Or should I say, packmates?

Re: Multitasking on the Move
Being able to use emotes while moving is a great improvement and greatly improves your ability to act like a wolf in the game. Keep up the great work.

Wow! This is one of those instances where such a small etail can make such a big difference. It looks amazing already! Head-tracking, emotes on the move, more resting positions--it's all fantastic!
Now, is this to say that we can perform many of these same emotes--particularly howling--in multiple different sitting and laying positions as well?

I love how fluffy that wolf looks! And I especially like how the confident tail and back ears emotes look.

This is pretty cool. Even though you say it is a minor feature, it is something I have always wanted ever since emotes were introduced.
