Re: 'Hunters fend off pack of aggressive wolves'

I'm glad that at least the two guys weren't harmed, though it's sad that they had to shoot at the wolves and kill one of them before the pack left them alone. But they shouldn't have just left the rest of the carcass of the elk lying out there- there's no way that you can expect to just leave a dead...

Re: Would wolves eat a beached whale carcass?

They most likely would eat a beached whale carcass, if it was left alone by humans and other predators. Really, at least in North America, it seems that the only places wolves live that are coastal are in Canada and Alaska. On the tundra, polar bears would likely claim the carcass first, preventing ...

Re: Endangered or not, wolf killings set to expand

Well, there is a reason for them to control the population of wolves - that is quite a lot of wolves and judging by the amount it would cause more harm then not to the wolves if the population wasn't put under control as such. Burying the pups in dens, and suffocating them (as said by Alpha Female)...

ANYONE!? HAFMAR?! BLACK TOUCH!? SAD?! That comment made me giggle. Does it actually say what the black touch does? I can't remember x.x I think black touch is tar. You know, like the pits of tar they had in the Ice Age. The tar was very sticky and slurp you deeper into the pit the long you struggle...

Google Search Experiment Wolf cub - 1 830 000 hits Wolf pup - 446 000 hits Well, a majority doesn't neccessarily mean anything. Folks thought the world was flat, after all. A study was once conducted in the U.K. with teenagers, and about half the participants thought Sherlock Holmes was real :P . H...

Re: New Era in Wolf Management

This is an excellent find. It's good that nonlethal methods are being given a chance to help this endangered wolf. Hopefully these new methods will succeed and can be used in many other places.

Re: Cub vs. Pup

'Pup'. Definately 'pup'. I see no reason why the wolf should have a different name for its young than any of its relatives. In the book The Sight, the fact that the wolf young were called 'cubs' annoyed and confused me. 'Cub' implies feline, bear (ursine?), or hyena (???) relations, and as the wolf ...

Re: Siblings Dispersing Together

Sorry, I've been away on vacation for a little while. Thanks for all this info, especially on the first question! As to your second question, I think their instincts of being old enough to leave anyways would influence them. However, I did find this interesting tid-bit: Wolves also carry the Canine ...

Re: Are Wolves Really Orange?

But then, why did the creators of Wolfquest put it in in the first place? You can only produce the orange color if you adjust a certain stat button on the color radar. You can come up with other not-so realistic colors, too, if you keep fiddling with the buttons enough, but the orange color is by f...

Re: Are Wolves Really Orange?

I agree; having such a bright orange color wolf may be fun, but it's really unrealistic and might teach people that it's possible in real life- I was a victim of that when I was new to the community. But then, why did the creators of Wolfquest put it in in the first place?

Siblings Dispersing Together

I was wondering- and I searched the forums to see if there was anything on it, and I found nothing- will siblings disperse together? Like 2-3 sisters or brothers, or possibly a combination of the two genders, might want to disperse together. Would this actually happen? Would it increase the chances ...

Re: A wolf besides the dominant having pups; what happens?

Hello there! In the breeding season, the dominant female will out and attack the other females of the pack to prevent them for going into heat. If a female somehow goes mates and gets pregnant, the lead female will stress out the female to the point where she will abort her pups. It rarely happens ...

They are great artists. I adore their art and their company. Tana the has some raw humor that can make you keel over laughing. I remember once when Akreon wanted her to finish a page and on their forum gathered up some of us in the chat box at the time and some people off Deviantart and we spammed ...

Re: Off-White

I know the comic, I've read the comic, I love the comic. Yes, it can be a bit annoying when humans are portrayed as evil, but sometimes in the comic they are shown to not be totally be pre-occupied with making wolves extinct. Plus Seven is hunting the wolves to find the white spirit to try and save ...
