Re: Sign petition to help three young wolves at a Belgium zoo
I was the trainer of the 3 young wolves, among other animals, but the wolves are very special to me. To my horror, these 3 youngsters are kept in a cage no larger than 30m2 (by Belgian law they have to have at least 1200m2) . Well that is what the petition states,so if this is true even if they don...

Sign petition to help three young wolves at a Belgium zoo
These 3 young white wolves are kept in a small cage in a Belgian Zoo, le Monde Sauvage (Aywaille). They are kept there to perform in a show to entertain the audience. They have been IN THIS CAGE for 2 years, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week! They are sometimes beaten, mistreated and abused, all of thi...

Re: Another wolf computer game.
Wow I haven't been on here for so long. Curse my new internet situation! :( But I had something odd happen. Things were getting scarce so far away from the den I was making my way back. Trying to avoid humans made me get ambushed by another wolf (Hambone, who is not apart of my pack) then a message a...

Re: 'Research hunts' weighed for wolves
There are no such things as "research hunts", in my opinion. Researching wild animals (for example, collaring wolves with radio transmitters) is the non-lethal and humane way inspecting the animal's life and habits without causing physical harm and stress. I think this is just an excuse for hunting...

'Research hunts' weighed for wolves
BILLINGS, Mont. – Wildlife officials in the Northern Rockies said Wednesday they are considering hunting gray wolves in the name of research to get around a recent court ruling that restored federal protections for the animals. Environmentalists derided the proposal, vowing to challenge in court an...

F&G: Wolves NOT causing most elk losses
Wolves have long been blamed for elk deaths in Idaho. But research is showing the predators have gotten a bum rap. In its August newsletter, the Idaho Department of Fish and Game summarized recent elk studies and found only a minority of elk populations are declining and wolves are culprits in few....

Judge orders protections reinstated for gray wolf
HELENA, Mont. – A federal judge on Thursday reinstated protections for wolves in Montana and Idaho, saying the government made a political decision in removing the protections from just two of the states where Northern Rocky Mountain wolves roam. The decision puts a halt to wolf hunts in Montana an...

Re: Druid wolf pack likely to fade away
I agree. I was thinking about that when I first heard she was seen again, finding a pack or loner to pair up and secure a territory with when pups are around would be a hard task only made harder by her sickness.

Re: Druid wolf pack likely to fade away
Well it would seem like it's over. Druid 690F was killed for attacking livestock :( BUTTE - Wolf number 690 from Yellowstone National Park had seen her pack ravaged by disease and attacks by other wolf packs before she wandered south of Butte and started attacking cattle. The 2-year-old female that ...

http://wolves.wordpress.com/2010/05/12/new-major-book-on-wolves/ So there is this new wolf book coming out called The World of Wolves: New Perspectives on Ecology, Behavior and Management. Anyone plan to preorder it or buy it one day? I was going to buy a similar book from 2007 but I'm glad I didn't...

Now I wouldn't call aerial gunning humane, effective maybe but not humane...but it's probably the quickest out of some other choices.

Re: Druid wolf pack likely to fade away
Druid female has been seen, along with other yellowstone news! During my Spring Break in Yellowstone National Park (April 10-18, 2010), I managed to see at least one wolf every day, but it wasn’t as easy as it used to be. There are really only 17 wolves that might typically be visible in the Northern...

Wolves make few unnecessary elk kills, study says
A multiyear U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service study of wolves in the winter in the Gros Ventre drainage shows they rarely kill more than they need to eat and do not prey on moose in excess, researchers say. The as-yet-unpublished study also shows that most elk tend to stay on feedgrounds in the Gros V...
