Re: Hunting Moose
Something interesting with the bull moose happened to me today while I was playing. I was running after a cougar that hadn't been "chased away" yet. The cougars are fast and turn in random directions. The cougar decided to run in the path of the two sparring bull moose on Amethyst. One moose ran awa...

Yet the paw prints are black, which normally indicates you have no pups left. I think it's a glitch.

Elk Hunt Stats?
I pay attention to my wolves' pack stats, particularly the number of elk hunts and elk successfully killed. I've noticed that when you kill the first cow that shows up in Amethyst Mountain it doesn't count as a hunt. However I've seen the same spawning of a herd sometimes yield multiple hunts. So, w...

Re: Tips for Thwarting Cougars? :p
If I'm trying to chase a predator off a carcass, I also try to get in and bite them while the predator has their back to me. Then I run back a few paces and try again. This tends to be more effective with bears than cougars since the bears are slower to turn around. Keep an eye on your health, and t...

Re: B.C. will increase wolf cull
The wolf population isn't at risk, the caribou numbers are. Since the cull is not addressing the main causation behind the decline, it may end up wasting money and not be effective in helping the caribou. 12-Apr-2017 Merged Post This is not intended to be a double posting, but the article is relevan...

That's good to hear, hopefully the pups will do well at the center.

Re: B.C. will increase wolf cull
There are scientists who disagreed with the cull as well, not just Miley Cyrus. Industrial development and logging in caribou habitat is a greater reason for their decline than predation is. The herd is in trouble and methods have to be taken to ensure the survival of the caribou herd, but culling o...

Re: Announcing Episode 3: Tower Fall!
Hunting elk and moose calves is something I had wanted to do in the game. I also like the idea of the wolf pups growing in size in the next episode. This sounds interesting, do you know if the number of rival packs will remain at three or increase in episode three?

Re: The BEST thing your mate on wolfquest has done
What one of my mates did was either a glitch or unintentional, but it was pretty cool. Normally the mate stands off at a distance whenever you go into the social arena. Once, shortly after my wolf found a mate and encountered a stranger, the mate stood alongside him while he was confronting the stra...

That's good to see her doing well in a pack and that she was successful in raising a pup as well.

MTU Professor joins scientists opposing hunt.
A proposed law that would allow a wolf hunt in Michigan has been opposed by Michigan Technological University professor and wolf researcher Rolf Peterson, in addition to thirty-nine scientists around the United States. The letter from the scientists goes on to state: “SB 1187 is antithetical to the ...

Re: WolfQuest 2.7.3 released, with moose!
It's nice to have another large ungulate to hunt in addition to elk. This is a good choice for an update after the last updates added new predators to the game.

Re: The Sight, by David Clement-Davies
I really liked "Fire Bringer" by the same author which focuses on a herd of red deer, "The Sight" not so much. With the exception of the main villainess (who at least had a good backstory), most of the characters in that book seemed to have no role in the plot except to be expendable. Larka was a li...

Re: Article: Bringing more wolves to Isle Royale
I'm aware of the history of wildlife on Isle Royale and how population dynamics work. I don't think there is any clear-cut obvious choice on what should be done or not done. There are advantages and disadvantages to stepping into the situation, and also advantages in allowing nature to take its cour...

Re: Favorite Den
Since WQ 2.7 fixed the carcass problem in Slough Creek, I've found myself choosing Bison Peak more often than I did in 2.5. (In the earlier version that den seemed to have more carcasses and predators than the other three.) Saddle Meadows is still my preference as it is closer to the rendezvous spot...
