Re: ID: Idaho officials set meeting to plan wolf hunt

And, if it hasn't been noticed, Idaho, Montana, and Wyoming are always the first to be on the case when wolves are delisted. Rather, Wyoming would like to be first on the case with having a wolf hunting season, but due to their poor wolf management plan, wolves aren't coming off the endangered list...

Re: ID: Idaho officials set meeting to plan wolf hunt

Wow, they're doing this already? The wolves aren't even technically delisted yet.

Those guys seem a bit too eager, I think. -_- Sure, I'll agree, a hunt is something that probably needs to happen, but...discussing the next hunting season three days after the budget bill is passed? Eesh.

Re: Ear Deformations?

Actually, I remember seeing a wolf with a floppy ear at a wolf sanctuary I visited. They told me that she had that floppy ear because when she was a young pup, she'd gotten into a fight with another pup. Her ear ended up getting bitten and damaged pretty severely, and it never healed properly.

Re: Hunting success?

That fact is cited on Wikipedia, so if you scroll down to the references, you can see that that fact comes from page 122 of Mech and Boitani's Wolves: Behavior, Ecology, and Conservation. This is a reliable resource, so yes, I think it's safe to say that your question is true.

Re: U.S. Fish & Wildlife Initiates ‘Flex’ Plan for Wolves in WY

It's good that they're working to FINALLY find a solution for Wyoming's wolf management problems, but I do not think this is the solution.

Still. It's a step forward, which is good.

Re: False advertising of wolfdogs

Here are some other fascinating wolf facts: They wear bracelets. 2% of the population in Alaska have wings. A white wolf is a cross between a wolf and a unicorn. Wolves often use Facebook to connect with family members in other states. Some of them have been trained to speak fluent English. Wolves ...

The only thing is, it's a pretty expensive book. $40 where I bought it, if I remember correctly. I guess you end up paying for that "free" DVD after all.

Re: Wolf Discoveries

There's been 'recently' a new population of wolves. I forget when they were discovered, but they only live on the coast of British Columbia, Canada. http://blog.seattlepi.com/environment/2009/03/12/new-species-of-wolf-identified-in-british-columbia/ http://www.raincoast.org/projects/wolves/ http://...

Re: Why are we afraid of them?

I think a major reason that people are afraid of wolves is simply because other people are afraid of wolves. It's the same reason why people are commonly afraid of snakes, spiders, rats, etc. Most people have had many, many encounters with people that are afraid of wolves, therefore they begin to re...
