I'd prefer if mates always die regardless of level, but having a certain amount of xp on your wolf could allow - in your pack or game settings, to enable or disable if the mate dies? It's so hard to think of EXP values since in game it currently feels so...unbalanced. 800exp for mates to appear, 15k for the secret den and 25k for the white pup, currently? (I'm having trouble remembering exact numbers). It's making looking at pelts and stuff unlocked at over 15K almost cruel hah...

Having pelts or customization options (or anything that more directly affects the player) that are unlockable via EXP would be nice all around tbh.

The scent thing could be interesting but maybe turning health bars on/off should either be a separate checkbox option or as part of the higher two difficulties.
