It'll be interesting to see if the results change with the different difficulty modes in mind. Might have to update this thread at some point.

It sure will! I get the feeling 2.7 will do most of its killing through regular hunting and encounters with stranger wolves. I say this especially because the update seems to be a big improvement in realism and those are two very common ways real wolves die.Koa wrote:It'll be interesting to see if the results change with the different difficulty modes in mind. I tend to die from hunting bull elk and ticking off too many bears.

My wolf usually ends up dying from encounters with stranger wolves. I never like to flee from an confrontation, even if it's not going well, so my poor wolf usually ends up fighting to the death if he doesn't kill or chase off the stranger first, haha.

Until I learned strategies for hunting I always got killed by cow and bull elk (Silly me) after I figured out how to hunt properly then I was usually killed by the druids or the cattle ranch.

Generally, I'm killed by trying to hunting elk with not enough health or from being shot at the cattle ranch. With the 2.7 release, though, that shouldn't be much of a problem, considering you should be able to kill an elk even if you only have 50% health.

Usually it's when I push my luck with enemy wolves or bull elk O:

A lot of mine are when fighting off wolves, when trying to chase off a bear and when hunting, especially when I go for a bull elk. xD
But mostly it happens with the Druid wolves. Mostly as I just don't want to give up the fight until they do. :p

Re: What are the most common ways your wolf dies?
Well, in the original WolfQuest, I usually died from hunting bull elk. [In fact, I almost ALWAYS died when I tried hunting Bull Elk XD]. It generally only happened in Amethyst Mountain, though, because in Slough Creek I usually didn't bother hunting, and when I did, it was always a cow elk XD I only hunted bull elk because I wanted a challenge and more exp points... I don't think I ever got a bull elk successfully.
Bears are the second most common way for me to die, and while it usually happens in Slough Creek while I'm defending my pups, it's happened a few times in Amethyst Mountain as well.
Honestly, now that I think about it, hunting elk in general is a pretty common way for me to die. Again, generally only happens in AM, because in slough creek I just feed from the billions of carcasses everywhere XD [I have a feeling that, in the new version, I'll have to hunt more often]

I generally don't die. I'm a gamer, so a basic game like WQ is real easy to stay alive in. When I do die, it is usually because I miscalculated the health of the Elk.

Re: What are the most common ways your wolf dies?
My most common way is a number of things. The norm is 1) I am hunting a bull elk with my sister in multiplayer, then we both die 2) I die trying to get the calf from the ranch for my pups 3) driving off a bear from a carcass, only to eat enough to run pretty fast, forget what I'm doing, then run into a druid or elk or just a coyote then die or starve
allons-y!

Re: What are the most common ways your wolf dies?
I have seriously only died once in both 2.5 and 2.7. Can't remember why in 2.5, but in 2.7 I saved my game in an elk hunting ground. When I loaded the save later, the entire herd had spawned right next to my wolf. They proceeded to kick him to death. Word to the wise, the new elk don't mess around and can spawn just about anywhere in the hunting grounds.

Usually encounters with stranger wolves, I'm usually pretty good at chasing off bears and hunting without being killed.

Re: What are the most common ways your wolf dies?
I initially voted for druid wolves as being the way I died the most, however I would say that this has changed since playing 2.7. I don't seem to have as much of a problem with druid wolves as I did before and when compared to the other ways my wolf has died, I would say that the most common way is to bull elk. I don't die to bull elk as much when I have my mate around but regardless, if I get too reckless I do end up dead from a bull elk.

Stranger wolves when they insist on having a fight to the death. I've never died due to other animals.
