Re: Cattle Ranches Helpful or Not
Sometimes I would go to the ranch to get supply of food....or just in my time to go and kill a few calves for fun
usually when I hear he dog barking, I run for my life to the portal, one time I was glitching(cuz i had two other INTERNET sites up) and when I jumped over the fence the human shot me, and I was like flying laying down on top of the fence. epic moment indeed XD

Re: Cattle Ranches Helpful or Not
Oh, I love the cattle ranch. Yes, despite my vow to never go there again, I...well, I broke my promise to myself. On one file, I've gone there at least fifteen times (in the course of one hour!). Seriosly (sp?), my pups LOVE cattle meat. They seem to always perk up after I feed them the meat from the ranch, even if they're at 100% in health. No clue why...
Anyhow, whenever I go to the ranch, it's super easy. The dogs are either deaf, inside the invisible house, muzzled, or on vacation in the Bahamas. THEY NEVER BARK. I even tested them several times; run all over the pasture, close to the cows, so that they go MOOOOOOO (REALLY loudly)...and waited for the dogs barking. Nothing. Not even a 'woof...?" It's so weird...

I find it helpful, because I usually have my den at Bison Peak or Slough Creek. ^^

Re: Cattle Ranches Helpful or Not
It depends on where you live... If I lived in Saddle, I would NEVER go to the cattle ranch. Maybe if I lived at the Slough Creek den, but only if there isnt a single carcass in sight. I would go to it less if I was in Aspen or Bison. Well, I have to admit, Cattle Ranch is fun! Sadly, it doesnt help in a number of ways:
1. Location (its just too far away from most dens)
2. Farmer (if you scare the cows, the farmer kills you)
3. Dogs (the dogs "tell" the farmer to kill you)
4. Time (it just takes way too long. Your pups will starve by the time you get back)
Happily, the cattle ranch helps in a few ways too:
1. Its fun (its a good, enjoyable minigame)
2. You get food (even if it takes a while, its good to have a nice dinner of cow)
3. You get to explore (you can check out the ranch and the surrounding areas to see what its like)
So I'd say that the Cattle Ranch isnt helpful mostly, but it does have a good side!

Re: Cattle Ranches Helpful or Not
i think cattle ranch is helping you to find food when you need it so im killing only small cows.
so cattle ranch is so dangerous for wolf one wrong step and POOF
you are been killed.
so im in the way NO!

Re: Cattle Ranches Helpful or Not
Killing cattle is much easier than killing elk, though as Koroda mentioned, distance is usually an issue. At the same time, you can always scavenge for elk carcasses/usually you start with a few by your den, although you can deplete them quickly if you're trying to regain your health after defending your pups from predators.
I don't find the farmer as much of an issue as it seems other players are. The dog's warning gives you plenty of time to leave, and I actually don't think I've ever died at the cattle ranch except once to see what actually happened.

Koa there is no humans in Wolf Quest!
so i will kill the one small cow and stupid cows are revealed me and for few second i will be killed!
so cattle ranch is bad as much as a good.

...not visually. The "farmer" will shoot you after the dog barks as aforementioned.

I don't find the ranch very helpful. It usally glitches for me, but when it acted normal it still took forever to get there and since I was always glitching and freezing I almost always ran into cows.

Re: Cattle Ranches Helpful or Not
It's an interesting trivia-challenge, but it doesn't help much with pup raising. Besides, this also defeats the (positive) wolf education purpose of WolfQuest and puts a negative view on these amazing animals.
Re: Cattle Ranches Helpful or Not
- I don't tend to visit the cattle ranch much, if I ever need food quickly then i'll just find and elk carcass instead.
possibly moving accounts or going inactive

That's pretty much what I do. If elk or elk carcasses are too hard to find, I look for hares.Kaapse wrote:

Re: Cattle Ranches Helpful or Not
Usually I just visit the cattle ranch once unless I have the Aspen Heights den. I can usually find plenty of elk carcasses near my den. I've noticed that (whenever I've been playing, anyway) after I visit the cattle ranch, the territory quality of my den goes down and stranger wolves show up.
