The cattle ranch is in Slough Creek - here is a quote from the Slough Creek FAQ to help you:
SolitaryHowl wrote:I am having trouble with the cattle ranch (the night mission)! Where is it? How can I get to it? What do I do once I'm there?
The Cattle Ranch mission (also referred to as 'the night mission') is available after you have puppies. On your compass, you will see a fence icon. Follow that fence icon until the ranch pop up comes up. (It is on the right side of the map, just above the creek.) Once you are in the ranch, your job is to sneak in and kill the calf that is inside. Press X to jump over the fence. Once inside the enclosure, press Shift + W (or the forward arrow key) to stalk. Try not to get too close to the adult cows, or they will moo and attract the attention of the rancher (alternatively, they will chase you out if you continue to get closer to them.). Look for the calf inside the enclosure - it is smaller than the others. Go up to it and kill it. If, at any time, you hear barking in the background, quickly get away! If you fail to leave the ranch in time (through the purple cloud), you will be shot by the rancher. Good luck!

Cattle ranch is too far away from my den site, so it's not helpful at all. Even when I go once in a while, I just run around to provoke the cows.

If your den is nearby then yes, it is definitely useful. If you know how to get in and out without getting shot.
I've only been to the ranch once, but luckily I managed to kill a calf, eat it and (when the dogs started barking) get my wolf's furry rear out of there.

The ranch doesn't give me any food for some reason, and I use Saddle Meadows mostly, so I don't go to it much.
I'm back after three years. Wow.

If you don't recieve food from the Cattle Ranch, the most likely reason is due to you not having the latest version (2.0.3)^^ You can download the latest version which fixes this glitch here: http://www.wolfquest.org/game_info.php
As I said before, I find the cattle ranch useful due to the den I choose being so near; however, obviously it depends on which den you decide to live in.^^

Well I don't use it as much because I have the den that looks out over the hunting grounds. I'll try to start using it more and give more feedback then.
Just one wolf.
And one wolf only.

Doesn't work for me, because it lags like mad on my computer so I can barely jump the fence or run back to the cloud very well.

It's not helpful to me. It used to work, but now it doesn't. You know, when I go there and kill the calf, food I got from it disappears

I thought that glitch was fixed.
Anyway, depending on where my den is is how helpful it is.

I think that the cattle ranch is helpful because when you hunt deer, they go far, and you have to run a long way back to feed your pups, but in the cattle ranch, you dont have to go very far, but the problem about them is getting shot, and you might be on the other side of the map. But i still think that cattle ranches are helpful.

When I use it, it glitches.
Also, it's a waste of time because there are carcasses everywhere, so there's never any shortage of food. I have had a carcass spawn right in front of me.

I support hunting.
