WolfQuest, What do the Teachers think?

Post by Zethra » Fri Sep 10, 2010 6:09 pm

I believe there use to be a topic for this, but I think it's dead now. So I asked -Sheeba for permission to make a new topic, and she said it was alright.

Well, we know about what most people on the website already think. So, well, what about the teachers? What do the teachers think about WolfQuest, the game and possibly even the forums.
If you aren't a teacher, you can always ask you're teachers to see what they're opinions on WolfQuest is! And, post them here. (I'll be asking mine too, see if they've heard of it and what they're opinions on it is)

That said; Teachers, what do you think of WolfQuest?

I think WolfQuest would be an excellent game to incorporate into my Biology class so that students can learn a thing or two about the natural world itself and not just wolves.
That's what an older teacher of mine said. I asked her about it last year.
I like discussing deep things, playing video games, and mentally torturing myself by studying C# even though I'm not a math person.

I asked my teachers and they said its a great program to teach people about wolves. My one teacher said that she will look into using it when teaching about food chains. I think its great to get a class involved in WQ.^^

My principals review:

Well, I think WolfQuest is really helping the school! We have added the game to all computers for computer enrichments in all periods, also thanks to oxoDestinyoxo we have password protected the multiplayer files so no one can get into multiplayer, as we dont want our middle schoolers exposed to what we were warned about. Thanks to oxoDestinyoxo, who typed up a field guide for the computers everyone in the school can enjoy WolfQuest as a favorite pass time in computer lab, and its even more fun if your taking a break from your job at PNN!

-In case you were wondering, yes I did replace my name with my user XD-

I dunno, just thought I'd share that to see how a middle school principal would react to the game XD

I'll have to ask my teacher about it, if I can get the courage to. XD

Well, I'm homeschooled and my mom, who homeschools me, already knows about WolfQuest and likes it. I could get opinions from my friends' teachers though, probably. Let's hope teachers here continue to appreciate WolfQuest. ^^

I inquired about the implementation of WolfQuest with my school a few months back; they said they would love to download it onto the computers as it would be a great educational advantage, however for some reason they put it off. x3 Something about it being to much hassle to install it into all the computers. I think it would be great if all schools could use WQ, as it teaches a lot of people about not only wolves, but different ecosystems.

We have doomed the Wolf not for what it is, but for what we have deliberately and mistakenly perceived it to be..the mythologized epitome of a savage, ruthless killer..which is, in reality no more than a reflexed images of ourself.

My teacher says it's a wonderful education program and he will use it in his lessons. I'm thrilled with his result :3 Also, he knows that I am apart of the WolfQuest game/forums, so he said he wanted information and quotes about Wolves, wildlife around Yellowstone and the game.

Well, ive asked my old biology teacher, i even installed the game on the teachers computer, and showed her the gameplay.
She said:
Ive never seen such a realistic game before. The way you can move around, the wolves anatomy, and mostly the sounds, the howling is amazing.
Even though the game is really educational, and would be useful...
The problem is its english.
Well, i told them you dont need to understand the language to use this game...
The school refused... Saying there would be a few who cant speak that language, and wouldnt enjoy fully the game.
I even told them about the multiplayer. That we could use it as a test for students, how much they learned so far.
But again it was refused because of the language problem...

I showed my old bio teacher the game, she liked it but then she saw all the mateing games and thought twice. She really liked it though.

Edited!!
WQ would be a fantastic game for my school, as we live in an area partially famous for it's wildlife. But, as we don't use our computers a whole lot, what's the point?I am the only one in my school who plays this game, but my entire school could benefit from it.Music classes could have a whack at the soundtrack.Social studies could study the geography of Yellowstone.Art classes could recreate the mission pictures.Science classes could have a whack at pack life and see what they could get done by NOT cheating.I wish my school wasn't so strict about computer use, it would be a great addition to our academic potential!

I'm quite curious to what the Bio teach would say to it. Never met 'em. But I think if I get the chance I'll ask.
Other than that, I'm pretty sure that it'll be a fail and they'll say no, but hey, it's worth a try. ^^
