Eagle, people can mistake Hawks from Eagles easily, main oints in an eagle are:
Size. - Larger
Build. - As you see in Hawks they're quite delicate, but in Eagles they're a large build.
Markings/definitons.
Those are some key points, so it's an Eagle. ^^

Eagle, though I have never actually played the mission myself yet; I've seen it from watching someone have an encounter with it.
Break the record, in a second, cherish your metal weapons. Watch the progress from an aspect that's stabbing the drama inside.

Size factors it to definitely be an eagle for me, and it's probably a Golden Eagle.

Bald Eagles can only carry around 3/4 of their body weight, which is around 10-12 pounds. In the game we fed our pups until they are around 15 pounts. This in mind, the pups would be too heavy for them to carry.

Golden Eagles on the other hand are adapted for larger prey. If they can drag a goat off a cliff then they could definitely carry a small pup.

Well, alway thought it was a hawk, but now that you guys are saying stuff about how a hawk is too small to pick up a pup, and an eagle is bigger, ect. I'm starting to believe its an eagle. I never knew lots about birds, but I'm glad I know now. It was the brown color that made me think it was a hawk, but a golden eagle, like metioned, is that brownish color, so a golden eagle sounds correct. :D

I'm pretty sure it's a Golden Eagle. ^^ I think I remember the team saying so somewhere.

Yes

Hawks are different than eagles, they're smaller and have many different characteristics.

Its defintely a golden eagle

And besides, eagles have different "calls" than hawks too. The call on wolf quest sounds exactly like an eagle

The bird is an eagle, a bald one I do believe.
You are correct about the bird being an eagle but I do believe that bald eagles have white heads, and usually eat fish and rabbits, while as golden eagles which appear like the one in the game can prey off anything from rabbits to small foxes, but I don't know for sure. You could be right? But I call the bird an eagle.

I knew it was an eagle at first, but I thought it was a bald eagle.
Then I noticed it didn't have a white head, so I wasn't sure.
After searching up golden eagle online, it looks like it matched the one on the game.

This can be a bit of an issue, whereas some players call it a hawk, and others call it an eagle.

I've always viewed this particular bird as a hawk due to its colouring. Perhaps the WolfQuest team has a definite answer as to what it truly is?
Anyway, I checked up with Google.

Hawk -- http://www.thelensflare.com/large/hawk_22928.jpg

Eagle -- http://ohfishing.com/NEWS/wp-content/up ... dEagle.jpg

...judging from these images, I'd conclude that it be a hawk, but I suppose everyone is entitled to their own opinions/views of what this bird truly is. ;) ...either way, I'll stick with a gigantic and laughably unrealistically huge shield under which are my WQ pups, forever protected from that darn bird.

Edit: I did a search on YouTube (out of curiousity) to compare the birdcall of both eagles and hawks -- sorta does sound like a hawk to me. :?

It's a Golden Eagle. It looks almost exactly like one, plus, Golden Eagles are large enough to carry off a wolf pup. They are much more famous for that to. The call is almost exactly like the call of an eagle also, hawks have a more screechy tone.
Hawks are much too small to carry off pups of that much weight and prefer to go after much smaller prey such as mice.

I'd say it's an eagle as well; besides, I believe the game actually declares it to be an eagle somewhere in the mission pop-ups. (:

This link from the WolfQuest FAQ should answer all your questions, it shows a close screenshot of the eagle-the golden eagle.
WolfQuest Golden Eagle: http://www.wolfquest.org/bb/viewtopic.php?f=35&t=34834
Live Golden Eagle: http://photo.net/photodb/photo?photo_id=3269158
It may look like another type of eagle, or a hawk in others' opinions, but it obviously was intended to be a golden eagle c;
