Slough Creek Den, Good or Bad?

Post by BatteriesNotIncluded » Sun Mar 13, 2011 1:01 am

Hello everyone, I was just wondering, what is your opinion on the Slough Creek Den? I use it so and so, its pretty glitchy.

The slough creek den has always been my favorite place to go in mp, and when i figured out that I could use it in sp, i was thrilled... Until i saw how glitchy it was. I think its a shame how such a beautiful den is so "dangerous". I have been able to succeed using it a couple of times, but i think its about a 50-50% change of various glitches occuring.

I love the position, the view and the overall look of the den. However, the den is far to glitchy for me to use it especially because i always keep playing with my pups instead of playing the last mission.
In the cold breeze that I walk along
The memories haunt me
Been forever since I cried the pain and sorrow
I live and die, proud of my people gaining

I'm standing at the edge
starin up at where the moon should be
Until my soul starts howling
Stray!

It's okay... I guess :/ I mean, I don't use it that often, it's probably my 2nd or 3rd choice.

I remember using it once and losing all my pups but one to bears and coyotes. I ha 7 coyotes and 4 bears on me all at once. And where was my mate? That's right. INNNN the hunting grounds.... useless little... XP

ANYways, yeah, not my favorite. I think once you unlock it, it should obviously be easier (i.e. less predators, a closer carcass spawn site... etc. etc. etc.). I mean, you worked for it, it should count for something, am I right?
its been a good five years and i feel like ive changed a lot but in reality i havent changed much at all

Yeah, I'm using it on my current game, and now my mate WONT LEAVE MY SIDE. Even when I go out to hunt, she leaves the pups alone.

It's so glitchy, I rarely use it. However, sometimes I'll try my luck at raising the pups there without glitches occurring, but usually some glitching finds me. Overall, it's last choice for me.

I hated it... When SC first came out I went over there first on my highest experienced wolf. That was the worst idea ever...
I never went there again... same with Aspen Heights, its also very glitchy.

Bad, at least in my opinion, it does have a great view and not a lot of bears and coyotes, but it glitches so bad!

I absolutely adore that den! I love it's position, and how there is an elk carcass right out front (lol). I've never had any glitches with it though...

I love the Slough Creek Den. It's my personal favourite. Good view, elk hunting grounds near, nice view of the river, nice scenery, tucked away making it feel hidden and cozy. And there is always an elk carcass nearby the den. My pups always behave nicely too, at least for a small bit. Though it's always glitchy for me. I can usually enjoy some small bit of time without any glitches, then eventually my pups start walking away from the den. I pick the den, nonetheless, for enjoyment. But if I was to actually play the game, I usually choose a different den.

I like the den overall. The appearance of the tree makes it feel similar to Bison Peak, so it's definitely familiar to those who have used and liked the latter. I love how the land seems to just flow around it, the view is amazing, plus it's secluded at the same time. With the river and food being so close, as well as being blocked away with cliffs, stone, bushes, and trees, and with the forest just over the hill, it certainly is pretty.

But after trying it just a couple of times in singleplayer, it just deterred me from ever using it again. Though the above explains why I love the aesthetical half, the glitches pulls its usage down considerably. While I enjoy attempting to make connections as to the exact cause of some of these bugs, I normally just use it in multiplayer as it's glitch-free and still has the beautiful view, perfect for howling and has amazing roleplay offerings.

So while I no longer use the den in singleplayer for anything other than bug testing, I find it to be a perfect den in multiplayer. ^^
