  • I don't think we will ever see numbers like we had pre-2010, that's wishful thinking.

I personally am happy with the amount and nature of the activity of the forums as of late. WQ is a good place to be right now! How is Pack Central for those of you that frequent it? That place can be a good indicator of activity as well; it is not one of my primary focus areas for Moderating, and I am not currently in any packs.

PC isn't quite as hustle-and-bustle as it used to be.. There are still active packs but it's not crazy town like it was years back(The good kind of crazy town).
Whatever HTML you'd like to see here.. Envision it. Flowery quote and hex codes and all.

  • #BanishingWinds #AfricanStars and my favourite #HowlingStones! And others, like #FourClans when Adalae was involved. Wow, THAT seems like forever ago!

Oh goodness, I remember those. Always kinda regretted not joining any of them, but now I'm rather glad I just stuck to stalking.

Also- Is it just me or are packs now way more active on their own websites than on the PC threads? Or was it like this in the past, too? I can't really remember.

I never really check out pack central, but I thought of starting my own small pack (I don't want it to be huge), but I really don't know if I'd have the time to manage it...

From what I remember, packs have always been a bit more active on their own websites. Probably because the majority of them are roleplay-based, and for years roleplaying wasn't allowed on the WQ forum and even now it's only allowed on one thread that probably doesn't really meet the needs of most packs. I think a lot of packs are a little less strict on their rules (both roleplaying and out of character rules) on their pack sites and prefer to chat there where they may not have to worry so much about slipping up and getting a reminder from a moderator. Pack threads are also expected to stay on the topic of the actual pack, so chatting about whatever tends to get directed to other threads on WQ.

While I was in it (in it's second run, after Adalae brought it back), The Four Clans was definitely more active on our website than our WQ thread. The rules were very similar to those on WQ in terms of what you were and weren't allowed to say or do, but there was so much to be roleplayed, plus a chatbox that always had at least a few people in it at any given time and a nice discussion/forum games area.

  • While I agree that pack sites are more active than their posts on WQ, I also think that pack sizes on WQ have also shrunk, which may give the illusion of inactivity. I also think it is becoming increasingly popular to only use WQ as an advertising platform for RP-based packs, who, like Kat said, do most of their business on their websites. Many packs seem to acquire members not through WolfQuest, but from affiliated roleplaying sites, or is that incorrect?

Those packs had their time and place for sure :).

That seemed to be a thing as well c: TFC got quite a few members from affiliated sites and advertising on top 100 or top 50 wolf RPGs or something like that, who were not on WQ at all. I believe African Stars Pack got a ton of members from that too, but I was never a full member there and didn't come on much so I couldn't really tell you much about where it got its members. I imagine with the inactivity in general on WQ compared to previous years that getting members from other locations and using WQ as another advertising platform is still going on, probably a bit more common than it used to be too.

Never gotten into pack central. I'm kinda making a pack but I don't expect it to get many members; my packs never do.

I wish more activity would pick up in the Other Topics sections, though. Those are always my favorite discussions.

The Star Trek topic <333
That was a fun time
Sadly everyone there left so now I'm alone

GD is picking up, though.

Get to Know Each Other has always been one of the most active sections of the forums, though. Still is.

Even with that, it still wasn't very active conpared to past years. It seems to have picked up even more, however.
