WolfQuest Trends

Post by Emiere » Fri Aug 03, 2012 11:54 am

  • I thought it'd be interesting to see what trends some members have noticed around the game or forum. One trend I've been seeing a lot of isn't really new, but instead of having the little 'sig/avatar copyright blaaaa' in peoples signatures, its been 'sig/av name/name'. Kinda irritates me, since I always read them really weirdly lol.
So what trends have you noticed?

If I understood you correctly, then what you say also bothers me. I think there is enough space in the signature to put everything in its place instead of summing it all up. Another thing I've noticed it's been since forever, is that the locations are always connected.

The sig/av thing annoys me, too. >.< I wasn't stalking the forums or a member when this supposed chain of locations happened, but I have heard about it. Seems legit.

A trend I have noticed is that now it seems to be that every multiplayer game involves 'meats'. I remember when I first joined, there were less games like that. It was a lot more enjoyable. :<

I'm not one for locations involving signature/avatar credits but I recently found myself trying to put credits in the location. Ran out of character space. x:

When I first joined in 2008 there were more mate-related chats and they were often "detailed" comparing them to the ones that pop up nowadays. Of course, the filter wasn't as strict then.

Yeah, I kinda do the av/sig thing myself, but it annoys me. Usually, the only time I do it is if in my signature shop te ask for it. (: Other than that, I do it when Im in a hurry, or when I dont have enough space.

  • Umm... list time!
    • Avatars depicting wolves are by far the most popular kind. It is WolfQuest after all!
    • Users tend to adopt color schemes in thier text and signatures that they stick to when making posts or packs.
    • Longer, more descriptive usernames are becoming popular with username changes. I'd give examples, but I don't want to single people out!
    • A lot of users have/get a DA after hanging out on the forums awhile.
    • WQ users whom have taken the time to thrououghly explore and contribute to the more factual areas of the forum tend to have a more accurate general knowledge of wolves and other canids compared to your general young internet user. Hooray!
That's all I have for now. Its too early in the morning for thinking!

Anyone remember the text-wolves people had in their signatures back in the old days?

  • Yes, yes I do!

Hmm, another trend... it seems that a few of the moderators that got chosen in '10-'11 have chosen to retire at relatively the same time.

I remember those from the day I joined here haha. Everyone used to have one and added the "H.O.W.L." Help Our Wolves Live. I think I will add the wolf to my signature.

A trend I have noticed for a while now, is people bolding or italicizing the name or username of people in their post.

As previously mentioned, people also seem to pick a color or color scheme to stick to while posting or creating a signature. :)

  • Adding onto that, BlackWarrior, I've seen a couple of people bolding their smilie/emote things [I dunno what they're called...I just mean all those general face things like :3 and ^^].

Yeah, that’s probably because communicating the right message with an appropriate tone of voice is not possible when being at the Internet. People tend to add those ‘smilies’ for expressing correctly their intentions.

You should all add the wolf to your signature, for the old times.

Ah yes, I've seen that too olay . Such as :P or :3.

There's actually quite a few things that the community does, but you dont really notice it until you really pay attention and think about it. This is a great topic by the way. It's great to look back and discuss things like this. ^^

And that's an awesome idea, Sintact! Perhaps posting the code? c;

Siberian Husky posted the wolf model.

Another trend is that when one pack at Pack Central uses a name written in symbols, everyone starts changing the pack's name to that. Now a lot of pack threads titles start with "||"

That's honestly a great idea :3
I also remember a lot of people used to give their text-wolves the same colors and fur-patterns that their wolf characters had.
