After finding a mate, usually I stay around Amethyst Mountain for a while. I hunt elk with my mate and then go into Slough Creek to find a den.

Haha! Sorry for the late reply! Forgot about this topic xD
Glad to see a lot of people's opinions! Lot more wanders then I expected...
I have a slightly different opinion... I have more of an urge to go to SC?
But I still linger more in AM.

Generally once I've successfully found a mate, we'll do some hunting and wandering before actually moving on to Slough Creek. It is definitely tempting to just jump into the next level sometimes, but I find the game lasts longer if you take your time with every stage. ^^

I usually jump to Slough Creek but most of the time nowadays I save the game in Amethyst when I have a mate and then go to Slough Creek, complete my normal stuff and then when I feel like it I'll jump back to Amethyst and just hunt elk back in the days where it was just me and my mate. It's a fun time-warp sort of thing.

I usually stay as a loner and keep increasing my wolf stats.

I normally stay behind and hunt an elk or two. Then I take a few screenshots and move on.

I just go and leave to Slough Creek. But sometimes if I feel like it I stay around in Am and hunt, and go fight some more wolves.

I like Amethyst Mountain. There's no pressure of "my pups are being eaten by bears AGAIN and I die when I try to attack the bear, and the bear never goes away no matter what". There's no pressure about territory marking, you can roam the whole map without worry of what will happen to your pups. I haven't won the game yet. I got frustrated when I couldn't drive off the bear, so I started over and have remained in Amethyst Mountain since.

I like to go straight to Slough Creek. I agree with some users on here, that there is nothing else to do in Amethyst Mountain. You have completed your quest for a mate. So why not go to the second episode. Many missions to get through on there, rather than to just wonder around for quite a while.

I generally leave as soon as I've completed the first quest. I have occasionally stuck around and hunted with the mate, but I prefer to move on sooner rather than later unless there's something worth doing before relocating (ex- gaining experience points legitimately).

When I find my mate, I just hang around in AM for a bit. Hunt, battle some wolves, maybe claim some temporary territory (where I sleep). After that, I go to my treasured Slough Creek. Before claiming real territory, I just hang around with my mate and do exactly what I did in Amethyst Mountain (claim temp. territory, hunting, battling). I usually stay in Saddle Meadows, since you can hang around at a den even if you don't choose it as your den.

I like to wander around before I get a mate, hunt and explore and fight wolves after I get one, and then after lolligagging for a while I head to SC. You can only really have fun like that before you have kids ;P
