The WolfQuest Wayback Machine

Post by Masika » Thu Sep 17, 2015 10:34 am

I was checking this out the other day and figured I'd make a topic for it here! Basically, there is a website where people are able to voluntarily provide "screenshots" (snapshots in time) for websites; it's basically a web archive. I had a look for one with WolfQuest and was surprised to see that there are actually a lot of snapshots for WolfQuest!

Here is the link so you can view all of the existing snapshots for the WolfQuest forums!
https://web.archive.org/web/*/http://ww ... /index.php

As far as I'm aware, you're not able to click on the boards to see topics, but I still think it's pretty neat to see how the forums have changed visually (e.g. changes in usergroups)! As a result, I thought it'd be fun to share. :]

Wah, nostalgia!

Remember when the theme broke? https://web.archive.org/web/20090501111 ... /index.php

Like you said, it's interesting to see how the forums changed visually and user-wise over the years. Being able to see the forums again in the way I did all those years ago is quite a weird feeling. I sometimes miss seeing some of the names I noticed around!

Thanks for sharing this. :)

I've been aware of the WBM for some time now. But, I only recently that you could access multiple screenshots within that day; I didn't realize that was there before!
I have a list of all of the images that specifically show the entire index page with all of its forums, but unfortunately that list is saved on my home computer. I'll have to post it here when I return home for fall break; it might make browsing through all the screenshots a little easier.

Ooh wow that is really interesting! I'm gonna have to see if I can see my old old username, HulaHop, lurking around for sure.
Whatever HTML you'd like to see here.. Envision it. Flowery quote and hex codes and all.

Nice to see that you all find this pretty neat too!

@Anduril - I have to agree with the whole idea of seeing older usernames that used to be frequent back in the day. When looking over the screenshots and familiar names I find myself thinking "Ahhh I remember that person, I wonder how and what they are doing now"!

@Koa - I did not realise there were multiple screenshots for one day! Thanks for sharing that, I'll have to check it out when I decide to look around again. It would be great for you to post a list of the images whenever you get the chance as well!

I've actually used this before, heh. Really nice to see all the old usernames and the forum as it was years ago, though I was a bit sad that you can't really interact with it since it uses screenshots. Still, better than nothing. Makes me miss 2008-2010, honestly.

Oh wow, I can remember this!
The forum hasn't changed much, but sure enough a lot of new categories have been added and changed a bit over the past few years. And of course the addition of new groups and the color changes for those groups.

And to think that once there were no Moderators on the forums like Koa or Neam.
Only WileE and Zooguy. XD
And the Moderator group color was yellow? WOW. Times really have changed, haven't they?
