Haha! I found the special XP number for getting a mate. Since the beta testers seem intent on keeping it a secret, I won't reveal it, but I'm glad to know it isn't extraordinarily high.

No, it doesn't affect your stats. It's required to find a mate, and like 2.5 if you get enough exp, you can name your pups, unlock the bonus den, and unlock the white pup.
Thanks you for clearing that up! I still hope it does more in WolfQuest 2.7, but I'll find out soon enough.;3

I noticed that too. My wolf and it's mate aren't fuzzy (but they're sort of grainy all over and pixely around the edges), but some strangers have fuzz as well as the pups on the title screen. Other animals have fuzzy coats too.

Perhaps it could be somewhat related to the GPU as well. FurMark is based on furry object rendering, so it could be a possibility that too much furry texture could stress the GPU and thus cause dropped framerate, or worse, overheating if the GPU/CPU need to be repasted. FurMark is commonly used to stress test GPUs and monitor their temperatures under heavy load, to prevent overheating, especially when overclocking.

Edit
As I mentioned in a previous post on another thread, I have a problem with wolves covered in glitter! :P I have yet to perform some tests to check for a solution. After which I will submit a bug report.

Ohmygoodness, your mate stalks with you and lies down with you too <3 <3

I've noticed that wolves with default coat colors are significantly smaller then wolves with new coats.

Aww, that's cute, I haven't gotten a mate yet in-game, so I've yet to see that.

And that's quite interesting to think about...

Adults do possess a fur shader, though it's much more bristly than the old soft and fuzzy shader you all saw in early teasers. This switch was due to a conflict with shadows in the in-game environment, as explained here-
loboLoco wrote:The fur shader that we first selected had a nice soft fuzziness too it (ate least I thought it was nice, though I am sympathetic to people who thought it was just seemed blurry...because that's essentially what realtime fur shaders do, is blur the texture in 3 dimensions). But as we've worked on the graphical improvements for Mac/Windows, it turns out that that fur shader doesn't work so well -- it doesn't register shadows falling on it, and it doesn't work with nicer water effects. So we switched to another fur shader, which has more of a bristly than fuzzy effect, and frankly it's harder to get a good wolf-fur effect with is.

I started playing the demo for the third time today and the first wolf I found was a dispersal male! Find a mate mission complete! I took a screenshot to remember the moment! His name is Erick!

Greetings! I just came across a water glitch at the little waterway north of Dead Tree... The water is a curious pink color. I would send a screenshot, but I'm unsure how to do so.

Edit: This pink water is present in both sources.

Is it possible to get a mate with some sort of customization or another pelt that's not Lamar canyon 3 or blackmail deer plateau 1 with enough Exp.?

Yes it is! I think those are just more common colours. The first dispersal I came across was the dark brown and black from Lamar Canyon.
