No. Yes. Sort of. It'll show the wolf dead after you bite it (sometimes it falls into the ground c:) in the same position your wolf would die in, but then it disappears like a dead coyote/fox very quickly.
And some wolves will flee. Actually, most. But there's one wolf in each SP AM territory that won't unless they're getting bored at how many times your wolf has to bite them before they're considered low on health. It's better for your wolf to be bigger and stronger XD

The game will play the dying animation for the wolf, but for the most part, from what I’ve seen, the carcass disappears after leaving the social arena. The stranger wolves do run (or submit) after a certain point. I found that if you submit, then attack again, there’s a chance you might get them if you intend to kill. But at the same time, if that final blow isn’t enough to deal enough damage to kill, the wolf will say something like, “I’ve got to go”, and run off. It’s a bit tricky to kill strangers, currently. But not impossible!

Sometimes, they never give up, and you can kill them during battle.

I think I've killed a few before, but they often flee long before I can kill them. It seems to depend on your wolf's strength though.
