Do You Buy from Farmer's Markets?

Post by pawnee » Fri Mar 20, 2009 8:27 pm

well....do you?

Buying directly from a farmer or farm helps support local buissness and reduces carbon emisions caused by transporation. For example, apples from across the country need to be transported by truck which produces emissions that help cause green house gases. But if you buy locally grown apples, you take out the emissions caused by all that traveling. Besides, it means less preservatives in your food too. Most cities and towns had a local farmer's market where you can buy farm fresh veggies and whatnot. I find the food tastes better too....

I do! It tastes really fresh and I feel good about it as well sense I'm not buying it from supermarkets that transport things all across the world, in trucks, planes, and ships!

My mom always went to the Farmer's Market although it is very expensive at times.

They have nice juicy, giant strawberries there. (^-^)

Unfortunately, we don't have the farmer's market in my town anymore.

We don't have many near us, but i do sometimes stop at the small stands.

The market near us is known for having shipped in produce :- /

There's a decent one about 30 miles away. (Yes, that's the next closest farmer's market.)

I live in the U.S. Midwest, so there is a lot of corn grown within the community. In the summer I often see stands up selling fresh corn, and it is way better than store-bought.

There's a market half the year every saturday morning. Not only do they have veggies and fruit, they also sell flowers and handmade crafts, along with performing bands! the food tates way better.

I'm a vegetarian too, but I go there for all the vegetables, we got some chickens there once too, for the eggs.

We have a local farmer's market close to where i live. Often when im training on my bike and i come close to the market i do buy a couple of strawvberry's , or a cabbage, or other vegetables/fruits there.

Indeed, often its fresher and tastes better then those imported out other country's.

There's a big farmers market up in St.Louis, and we go there a lot. It's better than what we get from Town & Country xD
Eclipse
I hear them getting closer
Their howls are sending chills down my spine
And time is running out now,
They're coming down the hills from behind

I actually don't, but that is quite a good idea. Thanks for posting this, pawnee!
