Composting, wood burning, and recycling

Post by skinwalker3 » Fri Jan 08, 2010 6:48 am

So, I do all the 3 things in the name +more..

Composting: Helps the invornment in many ways.. Not only saves trash, but also gives food to grubs and bugs to make fertilizer.. A compost pile works by putting in rotten, unused, or fresh fruits and vegetables. You put the food in a backyard container, (can be bought at any hardware store) and you pile it all in there... after a few months, the worms, grubs, spiders, and such will have eaten the food, and you will have compost! great dirt for farming/planting... this helps save trash, bugs, and gives you fertile dirt.

Wood burning inserts (WBI): WBI's do many things... First off, they help save electricity, save oil, and save money. WBI's produce heat by burning dead wood.. The more you burn, the more the temperature goes up.. they're quite nice ^^

Recycling: I think we all know this one.. saving plastic, cardboard, glass, paper and many other materials helps save the earth.. it saves trash waste, creates new products, and is quite fun to watch being recycled... ^^

Thats 3 easy ways to save the earth ^^
(the wood burning insert can be expensive, but the other two are cheep and can be done for free to $20)

I'm glad that others have the will and thoughtfulness to take action, there are so many things that we do to the enviornment, that I think other people are just too afraid to do anything about it - or just don't care, for that matter.

I participate in recycling and composting, though I've never heard of WBI... I'll look into that, if it means helping the enviornment. Thanks for posting this topic, now I know a new way to save the enviornment from any more damage.

Yeah true...

And good for you ^^ WBI is a bit expensive, so before you buy one, talk to your parents, and start chopping dead wood. To make the WBI work, you needs tons of dead of.. Surpringliy, its fun chopping wood.. Lets you be outdoors..

Our town is setting up a recycling center, which is good since we need one.We don't do composting, but my grandparents use wood to supply heat.

I believe in freedom, and peace. But sometimes, you don't always get what you want. Don't believe lies, don't trust strangers who out of the blue talk to you, and beware of scams such as the 2012 lie. YOUR choices shape YOUR future.

Composting, wood burning, and recycling

"In today’s world the importance of recycling is becoming greater of a concern both for the general public and also to the economy. Recycling has become a major issue as scientific research has been suggesting for years that the earth is being depleted too fast to sustain a healthy balance. The earth’s natural resources are being consumed at a rate that reinforces the idea that we are living for today and the future generations will be paying for the consequences."

I do all three and our whole neighborhood/block are agreeing to do a weekly neighborhood clean-up day every saturday. Its when we go around clean-up rubbish pick up rubbish plant trees (if in season) and recycle most of our stuff.
And every year our whole neighborhood are ravenging through our drawers for toys, old shoes old socks, small things, jeans, shirts, pants etc.
And we pile it all up on my dad's huge huge huge van (for work)
and by afternoon everything has gone to charity/
~Yeah I'm smiling,[/color]Inside dieing.~
Behind this fake mask of mine,
Paper thin lies, what I wished for most is a paper heart,
then you can't come and destroy and tear it apart like you
did to my last one.~

Recycling only as Wood burning is not really allowed in my country (we need to have advanced filters and stuff), and I do not compost as I do not have a backyard great enough to have both my plants, vegetables and spices in it aswell a compost bin.

in fact, once in the 2 weeks, the city's cleaners will drive through the steets and will emptying "green" garbage bins filled with all kinds of vegetables, plants, and stuff into huge carbage trucks) Those bins are found at every house (approx. 100 Liters of loading capacity) and are filled by the people themselfs.
