they are dyeing the fish so the customers will love the pretty colours and bye them a lot more but i find this 100% cruel. this should not be happening. they shouldn't be doing this in such a cruel way in fact they shouldn't be doing this at all. I defiantly wouldn't want to change the colour of my skin to rainbow or pink especially in a cruel way! some people just don't understand animals. :? :(

It's very upsetting and it' s most un-natural for the Fish.

Isn't it Toxic for the Fish, otherwise, they would die quicker from just poisining.

Wow, this thing is so stupid and pointless. I can't get those people who are trying to 'improve' nature, and they actually do the opposite...

Its very disappointing that people only cares about profit, rather than those fish's health. Just because they don't play fetch or walk with you doesn't mean they don't have a life to be treasured.

I enjoy fish, they are very pretty and they are very calming to watch. A fish is pretty with their natural colors, why dye them?

To me this is a really sad act, I don't like when people dye animals to make them an alternate color then what they actually are suppose to be. It's harmful to the animal, not to mention that some of the chemicals could possibly get into the purchaser's blood system if they don't handle the dyed creator properly.

So basically, I am against things like this.

Dear lord, of all things, why would you dye a fish? Fish are very pretty with their natural colors already. It's just sad that people could care more about money and making a profit then keeping fish healthy and alive.

People do crazy things, I swear.

Personally, I do not see the actual point in dyeing fish at all, I find it horrible and cruel, not to mention that it can damage the animal. Besides that, I don't see why people can't be happy with natural coloured fish, they are already beautiful in their own unquie way.

I guess this is partly why I keep seeing un-naturally coloured in fish in some of my local pet shops, its sad that people do not know what they are excatly looking at when they decide to buy these types of fish..... its sad to see that people are doing this just to grap customers attention and such because of the colours.

Thanks for posting this blackscar, I hope this situation can get sorted out, and that this pointless colouring can stop.

I have to admit, they are beautiful fish. Sadly, I hate how people don't even realize their newly bought pet fish has been dyed. I've seen a lot of people buy these fish from other pet shops around my neighborhood, and after I tell them about how they've been dyed, some people do take them back, others just shrug it off.
I really dislike how people will go and dye a fish or other animal, just for pleasure or to make it 'pretty' so they can get some profit. I've seen poodles dyed different colors, and even a cat so it looks like a tiger. It's kind of cruel to do that, even if it is just to a fish.

I agree Alpha Female. It truly is desturbing how people will put fake colors on a fish to help with sales. I imagine the dye is not very healthy for the fish either. I have to say the dye makes the fish look rather odd O.o I love fish though they are fun to watch. I just find it very cruel that people are dyeing fish and other animals

It's common, among any form of species for them to be dyed a specific color. Usually, it's because they want the 'animal' to be unique. However, I disagree with dying. Due to the fact that, technically, the animal is being treated more as an object and not a living creature.
As such, when it comes to dying fish, I do not believe everyone knows if it's actually dyed or not. Some may believe that the fish just looks like that, when it's false.

I believe that the dye could be toxic to the fish, and not just that, other animals that happen to come in contact with the one that was dyed. I have to admit, they do look cool and pretty. But I am against it, to me I find that it's just wrong...

Whoa, I had no idea!
Luckily the pet shops near me don't sell dyed fish, but if I did see one I'd march right in there and ask why the fish were so brightly colored, and that it was cruel to die fish. Especially as it is done in such painful ways. People never treat fish with as much respect as other animals.
Would you inject your dog with dye? No, then why do it to a fish?

Me neither, I hope that this insult to marine life ends soon, luckily I don't think that any pet stores in my area sell dyed fish.
