Indeed, hopefully this doesn't go out of hand. If there are other wells leaking, then this could be a problem. I hope that they get to the bottom of this before anything else happens.

I found some interesting news that is very sad to hear about this oil spill:
http://www.thestar.com/news/canada/arti ... gulf-spill

A ton of birds are threatened by the oil spill, including Canadian birds like loons, geese, gannets and more.

But some good news I found regarding the sea turtles and the oil spill:

Wow, poor birds. I hope that all goes well for them, of course it is good to see some people trying to help them. Even if the impact of the oil does effect their migration.
It's great to hear that those turtles where saved though.

According to my mom's radio, the oil has stopped leaking, but there are apparently still other oil-spill related problems.

I agree that it will be terrible if the oil spread even further. It's also sad that the birds, dolphins, and other animals are already covered in oil. :(

Well, shark week is on (yes, I watch shark week xD) and its a shame watching the sharks. I saw and learned that tons of sharks live in the Gulf of Mexico, and they use that as a pupping ground. Sadly, since the oil is there, the sharks will swim in and get all their gills covered in oil.
Some researchers said that, if some sharks even survive, the oil will threaten their species for generations.

That's terrible! I've been bitten by a Shark, but I still love them! I live near the Gulf but I'm not sure how bad it is here... I was watching Billy the Exterminator (Haha I love that show..) And He was on this boat thing checking out the oil and one guy stuck his hand in it (He had gloves on..) and He went through inches of oil before he could even touch the water! This isn't JUST about the sea animals and birds, it's about the land animals too. The oil gets washed apon the shore where Land animals hunt and live. Billy saved a Racon from the oil. It's just terrible.

I don't live anywhere near sharks, so i'm lucky to see some even at an aquarium. Yes, sadly all animals, sea and land, will be affected by this terrible tragedy. I've seen a lot of birds on the news being affected by this oil spill, even some squirells and chipmunks.

I helped clean up the oil by the shore but its now settling to the bottom! :( We are acting fast but not fast enough! That made me sad thinking about the coral reefs and fish die and turn grey. I e-mailed people I know about it and they help me too. My friends and i kept big containers and swept up lots of oil at a time. I saw some terrible sights at what the oil had done but I glad we helped! It wasn't all the way gone but we took some out of the water and we cleaned most things up.

Good for you for helping! :D

I heard, fortunately, that ocean drilling will be banned completely now...or atleast have so many restrictions that it would be almost impossible to oil drill in our oceans.

That's good to hear, thanks for sharing the good news with us Solitary. ^ ^
Hopefully that will stop all these oil spills from happening. Too bad it takes a disaster for people to actually see what's happening, and find out how to stop it and prevent it in the future.

Indeed, I agree with you Alpha Female. It's hard to see so much has been affected by this, and that it took that much before it was "banned" or "restricted.
However, it is good news to see that restrictions and/or banning has been placed on ocean oil drilling. Thank you for sharing that part with use Solitary.

Well that's awesome news ^^ Where I live, (Well my particular school that is..) no one even really cares D: It really angers me though! My friend and I are the only ones who go on websites, watch for updates on the news, and really just care! I can't believe it sometimes! But I'm glad I now know that there are people like me out there doing all they possibly can to help. :3
