Its hard to stay positive when u no that even if they do fix the oil spill, all those animals have already died...

But i suppose ur right. Being sad about it isn't going to change the fact that its happened. Now all we can do is try and help.

I know what you mean. On CNN they showed like 100 birds were rescued, and 300 died (it was odviously more than that, but you know what I mean). Seeing those numbers made me feel pretty down, but it's best to think about those who were rescued, tagged, and released and how those few animal are so importaint for the whole species.

They stopped the oil spill leak but they will see if their plan continues to work, now all they have to do is get the oil out of the ocean.

They did? Hmm... well I hope the leak won't open again; and that it stays shut. And I bid them good fortune in getting the oil cleaned up...

That's what I heard too. But, knowing BP, it'll probably fail as well.

I saw that on the news today about the new cap and how oil has stopped leaking in, but they said it isn't a permanent fix and they still need to make the relief wells I believe. I didn't have a chance to read into the story.

Really? I live right by New Orleans and I haven't even heard that. That's good to know that they stopped the oil even if it is temporary. If they get in there fast and fix it, then hopefully this won't ever happen again. If not, we'll just have to see what happens....

Source - http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/us_gulf_oil_spill
If the cap holds, if the sea floor doesn't crack and if the relief wells being prepared are completed successfully, this could be the beginning of the end for the spill. But that's a lot of ifs, and no one was declaring any sort of victory beyond the moment.

The oil stopped flowing at 3:25 p.m. EDT when the last of three valves in the 75-ton cap was slowly throttled shut. That set off a 48-hour watch period in which — much like the hours immediately after a surgery — the patient was in stable, guarded condition and being watched closely for complications.
You can read more on the article at the link.
I truely do hope this holds... If it does not or if something goes wrong.. then things shall not look good anytime soon =\

In the newspaper this morning it said that the tests they have been doing have shown no signs of leaking oil. I didn't see anything about the cap loosening though. :|

Now everyone please don't go on all negative on BP they've had alot of stress lately and they don't need anymore with people saying that they will Quote "fail".
It's good that they've capped the oil but, we all have to be patient for what the future has to hold for that cap and oil.

I agree with Midnight1101, they're trying their best to stop it. They have caped it, and are measuring to see if the cap will fix the issue. I am sure that they are trying to still figure out a solution incase it doesn't hold, but let us just hope it does.
I believe thinking positive about the situation is best in this case.
