Saving nature without spending money

Post by Aleu254 » Thu Apr 21, 2011 6:19 pm

I been thinking of this for some time now, I couldn't help a topic of this so I decided to make my own.

Let's see how many ways we can come up with to save nature witout spending money!

Here are my first five, I thought of:

1. Clean up litter
2. Re-use bags from the store
3. Don't litter
4. Spread the word
5. Don't use poisions

How many can you think of?
Life is hard, only you make it harder.

I do use tote bags for when I go shopping at the super market. I also think that using re-usable containers and water bottles are a good way of keeping the environment free of plastic waste. Such as using containers instead of zip-lock bags.

Great discussion, Aleu254! This will definitely inspire younger people that don't make an income to get out there and help preserve the earth, without spending any money.

Let's see what I can come up with...

  • - After finishing a drink package that uses plastic [the rings],
cut them up properly before disposing of them. That way, you can
    protect birds from getting caught.

    - Recycle! This includes and plastic litter, household containers, etc.
[If there isn't a recycling program at your school, help get involved
    and create one!]

    - Try to drink more tap water than bottled water. If you have a proper
filter, just get your drinks from a sink rather than a bottle. This saves
both money, and keeps water bottles out of unwanted places, like landfills.

    - Ride your bike/walk to places rather than drive, or carpool. That way,
you can reduce the amount of fumes that enter the ozone without
spending all of that gas money!

I'll add on more later, but for now, this is what I've come up with. Any more ideas?

* My great grandparents are growing a garden, maybe you can. It can save you gas money, grocery money, and a trip to the store if your patient.

* Some people have recycle bins and don't even use them! That's wasting plastic you could RECYCLE in it you know! Get goin' and make some use outta' that sucker! That's wasting plastic, money, and time! Hehe

* RE-USE . Instead of throwing away that empty can of soda you drank how about filling it up with water for next time you go to the park and save a bottle of water doing it.

* Instead of watching TV and watching game shows and wasting electricity, go outside and make your own game show like wipe out in your pool or trampoline. If you don't have one then you can set up an obstical coarse or race and have some fun with your family.

* Buy produce grown in your area so that less fuel is spent getting the produce to you.

Well, that's all I got.

These are great tips every body! Let's see what I got...

[*] Use power strips when you have to many plugs for one outlet, this uses up less energy
[*] When you leave the house, turn out all the lights and unplug everything. These is such thing as ghost electricity being used up even when the electrical item isn't on. This raises your electrical bill, cost you more money.
[*] Don't buy digital clocks! These use electricity, instead buy normal clock that use batteries and dispose of the batteries properly when they need to be replaced.
[*] Start a school program. I started one of these and it turned out very successful. If you start a program to clean up the litter around your school and offer to dump teacher's recycling it helps the environment immensely! [/i]

Great ideas everyone! Unfortuneatly, I don't have any ideas currently; I think you all listed them. XD
But, I believe that spreading the word and picking up trash from parks, beaches, etc. are the most effective.
everything out of the ordinary is considered weird, i try to stay clear of the eathlings and their fears

Well I have an electric lawnmower and it sure is amazing! Its the easier lawnmower I've ever dealt with and I'm so in love with my lawnmower that in the Summer I almost want to mow the lawn everyday.

Riding a bike of course, for short or long distances.

I also use this shampoo and conditioner that is made out of 98% organic plant material. I mean I guess its a little bit more expensive than the other kind, but since I'm teh only one who uses it in my house it lasts me a long time and its worth it. Apparently conditioner causes brain cancer so when I foudn that out I started using this biodegrateable stuff too. T he bottle is even biodegrateable. Also, if your ever camping, it's great for taking baths in teh river. It doesn't release harmful chemicals in the water but rather just organic matter.

We also have a small garden out back, though not really enough to feed our whole family it still helps a bit.

And we recycle too.

If you have the money for it you can also get an electric fireplace instead of those gas ones.
