Select "Your Footprint" from the

NOTE: There are many different quizzes that will tell you your ecological footprint or carbon footprint--while they are different, most of them hit the same issues.

We did this in Environmental Science class last year. Can't remember correctly but I remember my footprint was in the average rating, though towards the lower end of the spectrum. Unfortunately, for the world to be where it needs to be, the average American footprint is still too high. D=

The quiz told me that if everyone lived the way I do it would take 3.8 Earths to support us. And 17 global acres for all the resources I would use up. It certainly can be sobering because I feel like I make choices that should improve my ecological footprint. But I do drive by myself to work 15 miles each way and I live in a house with only one other person and I eat meat daily.

It's difficult because sometimes it seems you have to make choices. That or walk 15 miles to work. I eat meat everyday too because I have low blood iron. So when people tell me to become a vegetarian....yikes. I guess it's because we've been raised this way.

But I think it's getting better. This generation seems to be much more ecologically concerned. When I was younger, I never saw as many commercials about recycling, or about green-products. I don't think the phrase "going green" even existed. I think the industrial age contributed a deal to the problems of today, as some chemicals and gases stay in the atmosphere and environment long after.

There was a great movie we saw called "Human Footprint." It gave statics of what a human will use in their in their lifetime.

Here was the website where you can find the video clips, facts, and statics:

I got the same exact result.

My family pretty much eats meat religiously and even if I complain to my parents (Which my brother has done, even if it wasn't for the environments sake), I really have no say in what's for dinner since I'm not paying for it. >.<

I do try to conserve energy and recycle, and I'll be riding the bus all of the next school year.

-when you do drive.. ~

do you think if we all got hybrid/electric/better-option cars it would help?
I would be SO happy and amazed if everyone reduced our 'eco-footprint' on the Earth to nothing. ^^ I hope it happens someday...

3.8 The main reason being they don't allow recycling where I live for some reason. Or rather the garbage collectors put it all together instead of separating them.
