A wolf walked into a packed bar in Italy, ate a steak sandwich and walked out again. The wolf strolled into the bar at Villetta Barrea, near to the Abruzzo national park, and helped itself to a steak sandwich from a table.

Bar owner Giacinto Lorenzo, 43, said: "It sounds like the start of a bad joke, but it really happened. Everyone here knows what a wolf looks like and there was no mistaking this beast for a big dog. It was one of the wolves from the national park. It looked pretty thin and we guess it must have been suffering with the recent cold weather and the snow.

"Everyone was so frightened we couldn't move for about five minutes afterwards, but the wolf just sauntered out as if it was the most normal thing in the world."

Local authorities have sent a team (evidently braver than the patrons of the bar) to search for the wolf.

reminds me of the wolf in the story of St.Francis; in italy the people just accepted the wolf and the wolf never botherd the people.

That's bad, in my opinion. Wild wolves should not be that accustomed to people. It's dangerous.

It also shouldn't have eaten that steak...now its taste buds are forever poisoned by human food.

Don't think of the worst when you don't know it for sure. Mabye because the wolf was in the national park, it has been handled by scientists and has adapted to people, to be in city streets and be afraid of people would spell certain death so it did what animals do best and adapted. It is probably ok, it wont be shot unless it killed someone

That's considering the unlikely possibility that they haven't already heard of the wolf. I'm pretty sure the news of a wild animal walking into a bar full of people, eating a sandwich and then calmly leaving spreads pretty fast. If the police intend to kill it, they would've done it by now. I wouldn't be so cynical or misanthropic and jump to conclusions.

Unless it actually bite or killed a human, he should be fine. They'll tranq him and just bring him back to the park. Eating human /food/ is fine. It's only worrisome if they take a bite out of an actual human. Don't be so down Blind! Many many times they just either stick the animal back where he came from, or find another, more suitable home some where further away from humans. *Hugs*

I am just worried.. I hope thats what the police do. but down here the police just kill everything.. las time a panther walked into aa neighborhood the police shot it, and they had tranquilizers. same with a dog that go loos at my school.
