Which wolf would you rather be?

Post by wolfgirl101z » Thu Feb 04, 2010 6:55 pm

Would you rather be a Maned Wolf, Timber(Gray) Wolf, Ethiopian Wolf, Arctic Wolf, Red Wolf, or a Mexican Gray Wolf? Explain why you would want to be that particular wolf?

I'm obsessed with Arctic Wolves. I find that their fascinating because of where they live and they seem a bit different from the other species of wolf. I think all wolves are fantastic and but Arctic wolves are better, sorry guys.

There was already a topic about this but it kind of died....

Keep in mind that their are currently two recgonized species of wolves; Canis lupus (grey wolf) and Canis rufus (red wolf). The grey wolves acros the globe, the red wolf lives in eastern United States.

The grey wolf can be divided into Sub-species...meaning it is one species but that population has adapted to the particular environment for whatever reason...eg Arctic wolves are grey wolves that live in the arctic, Mexican grey wolves are grey wolves that inhabitated southern US and northern Mexico. Does this make sense or do I need to explain myself better? It might be kind of confusing as their were once over 15 diffrent sub species of wolves at one time.

Maned wolves, brush wolves, dire wolves, tasmanian wolves, are not sub species of Canis lupus (the grey wolf). Their just called wolves because they look similiar but are actually diffrent species.

Can I pick an African Wild Dog instead? :P
Out of the choices, though - Red Wolves are my favorite.

Hmm, I think would rather be a Mexican Grey Wolf.

The Mexican Grey Wolf is the most genetically distinct subspecies of the gray wolf. Of the five North American subspecies, its the smallest in size. Its the rarest gray wolf in North America, I'm pretty sure. And they prefer to live in mountain forests, grasslands and shrublands, and are very social, just like me! Not necessarily living in the mountain forests, but I love the mountains lol.

Either Grey Wolf or Artic Wolf. I love Grey wolves and I think it would be cool to be an Artic wolf, running through the snow and hunting Artic Hares. :D

if i had a choicce to be a wolf, i would either be a Grey Wolf ,a Timber Wolf or an Arctic wolf, i love them most, i know quite alot about them, also because of their habitats, like forests and the tundra, out of the three i would most want to be a Grey wolf ^^

I think I'd prefer to be one of the Grey Wolf subspecies' - the European variety. Because I know in Spain and France they are not hunted, and they mostly live in the Alps.
