Found these in my Wolves: A Photographic Celebration book

-African Proverb

-Rick Bass

"No one can deceive the eyes of a wolf. They always know."
-R.D. Lawrence

..and there's plenty more, but I don't want to search through all the pages. (:

http://en.wikiquote.org/wiki/Wolf

We reached the old wolf in time to watch the fierce green fire dying in her eyes... There was something new to me in those eyes-- something known only to her and the mountains. I was young then, and full of trigger-itch. I thought that because fewer wolves more deer that no wolves would mean hunter's paradise, but after seeing the green fire die, I sensed that neither the wolf nor the mountain agreed with such a view.
Aldo Leopold

No matter how much you feed the wolf, he keeps looking at the forest.
Ilse Lehiste

I love those two quotes the most
Hark! hear the howl that eats the moon alive!

That quote is also found in Rick Bass' book, The New Wolves :D And it was one of the most powerful parts of the entire book.

All the time, I hear the saying "hungry like a wolf" or "wolfing down food". While wolves do gorge themselves occasionally, these terms have brought the idea that wolves are bloodthirsty gluttons. This is actually quite funny to me :)

Doh, I forgot to post quotes in my previous post. I'll remedy the problem by posting some now. =D

"If you see wolves there, that wilderness is intact" - Paul Paquet

"The gaze of the wolf reaches into our souls." - Barry Lopez

"The wolf is a spark of Nature's intelligence that lives apart from, and sometimes despite, the intricate structure of houses and cars and jobs around which our lives are now built. In her freedom, she reminds us of the wild sp ark from which we came and which has yet to be extinguished." - 'Asta Bowen

"There is a fair to even chance that if you watch the captive wolves, you'll decide they do not have it--wildness, and the ability to survive in tihs modern world. But if you stnad there a while longer--watching nothing, or watching one of them sleep, dozing like, well, you hate to think it, like nothing more than a dog--until a raven drifts by, and utters a single short hoarse croak, and the wolf lifts its head and fixes burning yellow eyes on the sky in that direction with an intensity, a focus, for such a long period of time that all other city sounds fade for you and you are only watching that wolf's eyes watch the sky, you will begin to change you mind again and think, Well, maybe they might make it after all. - Rick Bass

"Those yellow-green eyes: everything they have is in those eyes, as you or I might pack everything we have into a storage shed, or the back of a truck. Their eyes carry more than ours do. We are children looking into those eyes--we have been here such a short time, while they have been here so long. Who are we, to consider saving them?" - Rick Bass
