I've always called them pups, because they're members of the dog family and it just sounds more fitting than cub. Plus, when I hear "cub" I think of tigers or something.

I say pup. It drives me nuts to hear them called cubs, since I associate that with a feline creature, bear or hyena.

I preferably only say 'pup' when it comes to wolf offspring. I specifically would associate the term 'cub' towards felines or other animals, for example, bears. 'Pup' to me, sounds more appropriate for wolves, and all canids for that state. Though either way, I guess it wouldn't really bother me when people do say something like 'wolf cub'.

Hm... well I've definately heard some debate about this. I prefer the term, "pup" as the reason most of you have already stated. Seems more fitting to a wolf, simply because they are of the canine family. Cub seems more like that of a feline's family.

Another name beside pup or cub would be the whelp. I don't like this term and prefer calling them pups. Still... everyone has their own oppinions.

I personally think Pup is correct when i hear cub i think bear I will sometimes correct people who say wolf cub...

Well thats what we are debating on. Almost everyone thinks that pup goes best for wolf pups and other canids, and cub, it definatly sounds like what you would call a bear cub. I think its been that way for a long time,so I dont know why we should chose now. But then again, i think there have been some records of people calling wolf pups cubs but it doesnt make a difference. Its like a tradtion being broken. Wolf pups have been called pups for a long time. Why change it now?

i think that pup is a better name for a baby wolf because

#1 most people use that word insted of cub
#2 i almost go mixed up when you said cub i thought this forum was about a bear cub V.S a wolf pup  lol

Also, i read a book called Wolves of the Beyond. There, they use the term "cub" for a baby bear, and "pup" for a baby wolf. So this means that even in books, pups are for wolves and cubs are for bears.

I've always used pup whenever I talk about wolves. Cub is for bears and others like tigers. I don't like anyone saying cub because i usually tell them it's pup

I personally believe pup is a better term. I assume you all agree? I mean, we don't call them wolf cubs, do we? Why should we change know after years and years of calling them pups? Just saying.

I prefer pup, and always have.
However, I don't hate it when others refer to it as cub, although I do find it a bit annoying.
In my opinion, "pup" is a more correct term, but if people insist on using "cub", well, then they can go ahead and act like a wolf is a lion or other large cat.

Although, I (I guess I like the sound of it better for this one) prefer cub for foxes.
