Resident spots possible wolf hunting Jumbo elk herd

Post by Sambhur » Mon Feb 08, 2016 8:50 pm

Photos taken by a Rattlesnake Valley resident may show the first wolf hunting elk on Mount Jumbo.

The images Brian Nostrant posted on his Facebook page shows more than 30 elk in a tight bunch with a large, thick-tailed canine running below them.

...

FWP spokeswoman Vivaca Crowser said Region 2 biologists have looked at the images and aren’t certain about the species.

To be honest, the photo of a single canine and a big herd of elk made me laugh a bit. Do you think it's a wolf?

That's really interesting thanks for sharing!
I have to agree with Twix (heh I hope you like your new nickname XD), it's either a wolf or a wolf-dog. But either way this canine surely has some big dreams.
I ran out of snarky remarks, unfortunately.

This is pretty interesting, thanks for sharing! Like the others said, it could be a wolf or a wolf dog.
But yea, the canine sure has big dreams...

I can't tell, either, but I will say Montana has a good number of wolves; it's certainly a possibility that the animal was a wolf.
