Do wolve mothers move thier den and pups if thier is danger?

well i wondering if wolf mothers do this say a bear lives close by and knows the mother is there so it always come around trying to hurt the mother and her cubs would she move the pups when the bear wasnt looking or would she just stick around.

Yeah Wolf mothers do move den if thare is danger to her pups and she knows she cant take care of the danger fast, so the pups cant be killed by a nuther danger she did not detect. :)

my answer to this is yes becaue mother cats do the same. i wonder though if wolf mothers move pups if pack moves to new spot in their territory :? the mom and pups would get awfuly lonely :cry:

yes they do. wolves can have mutliple densites in case the mother should move the pups. Many books by david mech, john theberge, and other wolf researchers have documented this.

Wow, I didn't know that. I always thought that the mother would abandon the pups if there is risk of her being killed. (Like poachers, or something...)

well that is also true. If the wolf detects something she doesn`t like and is given enough forwarn, the will move them.

But say, she`s cornered or people follow her back to her den, she`ll abdonon the den.

Yeah, I think they may move now and then to escape parasites, etc. that will have built up in the den.
