No. As far as I know, most wolf fights end up being bluffs and aren't serious...

I've never heard of wolves fighting to the death.

Wolves try and avoid fighting...most animals do. Fighting can cause injury and loss of energy that could be better used in the hunt. Most animals try and avoid getting hurt by using behaviours to avoid fights. Usually animals fight to a point where one opponent submits or runs away, I would say its infrequent for pack memembers to kill other pack memebers. But rival wolf packs will and do kill lone wolves that tresspass into a territory.

Just like I try to explain to the kids in Multiplayer, wolves don't just rip out each other's throats. Why would I want to weaken my pack through an injury or death? That goes against every instinct I have.

No. Challenges are made. Maybe a nip here or there. Wolves are intelligent (or instinctive) enough to know when to back off, and will not move forward in a challenge if they get the urge to back off. Unlike humans, wolves don't have egos to damage. Pride isn't going to get them an injury that could cost the pack food for the future.

As for territory disputes, again, why would I want to risk injury to myself or my pack mates when we could simply go in the other direction? I could see injury coming out of a serious lack of food in an area, but typically I could just move on rather than get into a skirmish that could cost us our lives.

When you play a wolf, you are instinct incarnate. You do not do stupid things. You survive. Unless starvation has already set in, I really don't see jackal mentality coming into effect.

My knowledge about wolves isn't that great, but i'm sure that the answer is no.In fact,i don't even know if there are species ofanimals out there that kill each other just like that. Most fights ocure (?)because of territorial disputes and mating(u know, males that fight for females and such)
