Re: Favorite Breed of Bird/General Bird Discussion
My favorite bird would have to be the Mourning Dove. They are so plump and cute. I just love them! C:

My favorite are birds of prey -- although I really don't have a "favorite". I like them all. Hmmm, on second thought...I do kind of favor the harpy eagles. :3

I've got three tied for first, all of which I've had as pets. I like Sun Conures, Quaker Parakeets, and Macaws. They've all got so much personality to them!
I also like (or love) Myna birds, a bird that lived in Hawaii when I lived there and never ceased to amuse me. They were like comedians, and it was fun to watch them bicker and hop around (maybe skipped?) and sometimes gather next to our Macaw, or on top of a horse.

I'd have to say that Laughing Kookaburras are definitely my favourite species of bird (the blue-winged kookaburras scare me a bit, LOL, and they don't live in my area)! I also love secretary birds, macaws, african grey parrots, and many birds of prey, (I've still probably missed some birds here) but the reason I love kookaburras so much is because of the pair that sometimes visit me in my backyard. It's good fun feeding them and being around them, especially when they 'laugh' to each other (even though it's really loud), or 'kill' the food I give them by using their beaks to repeatedly hit it against something. I like chickadees because they are just so cute! I saw a chubby one a couple of days ago! (although maybe he was just puffed up )

My favorite kind of birds is the chicken breed the Rhode Island Reds. The roosters are so pretty and the hens lay very nice eggs.

I have a bit of revision. Sun Conures, and Jenday Conures, are first on my list, with Quakers and Macaws a close second.
I have a Sun Conure right now and I'm so proud, she let my dressage trainer pet her without trying to bite off his finger. There's a Jenday at where my mom works, named Jewel, that is really very tame and lovable too. I adore his temperament.

I suggest living where I live then. They've been hanging out in the fields right next to my house for the past few days- been watching them do low flybys. =DRedwalker wrote:I adore love birds and conures, but I have to say

Of course you are Kivia. I've never seen you without an owl avatar. =PKivia wrote:I suggest living where I live then. Ospreys are my favorite birds and I've seen them flying, fishing, and nesting at a river. These birds are very skilled at fishing and are quite magnificent.

Re: Favorite Breed of Bird/General Bird Discussion
I'm not sure if I currently have a "favorite" bird but there are certain birds that never cease to amaze me. Be it the amazing acrobatics of a swallow, the pure beauty of the Bald eagle, or the mesmerizing sight and sound of the owl.
In fact I often have swallow nests just outside my bedroom window on the second floor. Off coarse its in cavities since that were swallows usually nest, so I still can't just open the window and stare down at a baby swallow. Also I live with a lake nearby and we get bald eagle nests in the area every year. Also we often see owls.
I guess this three might be considered my "favorites". Though I would rather not call them that becuase I like pretty much all birds.

Re: Favorite Breed of Bird/General Bird Discussion
The other day i saw a woodpecker trying to bore a hole in a bamboo stalk. He wasn't able to make a dent XD. I have a special thing for birds, so peaceful and beautiful.
