Wild life against the highway!
Wild life against the highway!
Okay, I live in Florida, so I see barely any Wildlife. So I like to watch it when I go to Orlando or Deland. So, I remember two times something just crazy happened!
First, I was coming back from a vacation and there was a cow in the highway. In between the safety rails! No joke! I was laughing so hard, but was glad that the highway patrol helped it out. There was a farm nearby I guess, and it escaped.
Second, I saw a goat and three lambs on one side, and a goldenrod wolf on the other side! The wolf was just so beautiful, I had to take a picture. But the goat and the lambs were so cute! I wanted to take one home. >w<

{I know you howl in the night, why not howl by my side?}

Wow, I wondered how those animals got there! Must have been fun to see them! A cow...stuck between the rails? O.o Interesting.
I remember reading on in the newspaper about a shipment of gerbils and hamsters that wrecked on the highway. People were running around trying to catch them. Most of them were fine and succesfully recovered.

Probaly escaped from a nearby farm.
In holland, sometimes the is an accident on the highways with trucks full with cows or Pigs.
Often some will have to be euthanized because they are severe wounded.
It soes not happen often, but sometimes it is on TV.

Haha that's hilarious, I live in Florida to, but I live far out and see tons of wildlife everyday (eagles, ospreys, gators, rattlesnakes etc.) I did see a live alligator on top of a bridge once, I thought that was pretty funny.

Once recently, we were driving home at night and a herd of about 10 deer suddenly started running across the road a little ahead of us. Most deer I've ever seen in one place! xD
I'm more active now, as the WQ forums used to be amazingly slow for me.

I'd love to see an alligator! Once our school bus ran over a deer, I felt so bad for the poor thing. It was smushed into the road. At least it died quickly.

Re: Wild life against the highway!
I was just recently in Florida and we were driving back to our rented house from Disney when lo and behold there were like eight little black pigs at the side of the road, all munching on grass or something.
Also, on the way home from Florida we were, ironically, talking about past pets when my dad (or mom, I forget who was driving) slowed down suddenly. I looked out the front window and saw this dog shuffle his was across the highway, nose to the ground. He was a beagle and looked perfectly fine. He had a collar on, so he must have gotten away or something like that. Anyway, he obviously had a scent, 'cause he didn't stop for nothin', and disappeared into the woods on the other side.
Luckily, there were very few cars headed our way, I think we were the only one on the highway at the time. I mean really, who wants to leave Florida to head north into the oncoming East Coast storm? (yes, my parents are insane XD)

We see a lot of dogs on the road; ranging from puppies to older ones. Some are strays, while others are pets. Though we get a lot of deer crossing the roads.

At the Grand Canyon on the bus ride back to our car, a roe buck walked within three feet of our window! I got the most awesome pictures! Also, just tonight i saw two coyotes fighting over some sort of peoce of meat up on a hill above the road.
My uncle has a trail cam in the desert, and he got some really amazing pictures of coyotes, javelena, bobcats, deer, and quail. ill see if i can post some later.

90% of teenage girls would die if the Jonas Brothers jumped off a 20 story building. If your in the 10% that would get a chair and popcorn and say "Do a flip!" pass this on.

Re: Wild life against the highway!
I've seen a coyote dart through four lanes of fast-moving traffic unscathed. That was really odd; I'm not sure what spooked it to run right through a highway.
I've seen a variety of wildlife from the road at several National Parks. As for the local wildlife, we often see deer near the roads or hawks resting on lightposts.

Re: Wild life against the highway!
When I was in Michigan, a huge snapping turtle backed up traffic. He kind of just.... sat there in the middle of the highway. I'm just glad that no one hit him though.
Michigan tends to have a lot of little critters run across the road.
When I was in New Mexico also, a large group of birds (I forget what they were; this was years ago,) started flying at our car for no reason at all; one got caught in the grill of the car and another hit the antenna, leaving a tuft of feathers up there. It was very odd behavior.

We see a lot of road kill and wild animals up north here, either it's roadkill or a wolf, coyote or deer crossing.
