Mara (Patagonian Cavy) heard of them ?

Post by IndianWolves » Wed Dec 01, 2010 3:18 pm

The Mara is a rodent that looks like a rabbit deear cross !
They are from Argentina and live in places like grasslands ,desserts, and pretty much places like that.
These are of some of the few animals that are monogamous (pairs mate for life). The young are born in burrows called creches even though the young are able to graze after 24 hours of birth they stay in the burrows for 4 months.
average lifespan: 14 yrs
weight: 17 lb

IF THIS BECOMES LOCKED IT IS UNFAIR FOR THERE IS MANY OTHER TOPICS WITH ONLY ONE SPECIES MENTIONED IN IT.

Haven't heard about them. Though, if you did get your information from somewhere, be sure to give credit (link back) to that source. (:

The Mara is quite a unique animal. To me, it reminds me a bit of a capybara.
I found a bit more info on the Patagonian Mara with a picture included:

Hmm, I have never heard of them. Though looking like a Rabbit Deer cross reminds me of another animal. Though the name of that animal was a species that has a name that begins with J. Though I do not remember the species very well. This was very interesting to read though.
