Bonsai Discussion

Post by Sambhur » Tue Sep 20, 2011 4:51 am

Though Bonsai is technically an art, they are trees, so they may as well have a place in this board.

Bonsai is originally a Japanese art form, in which miniature trees are grown in containers, most often trays. They can be 'trained' in a sense, to grow in a certain shape or direction to be visually appealing.

So yes, do any of you own a bonsai plant? Or perhaps just take a great interest in them?

We used to have one, I'm not sure where it went, maybe outside in the herb garden in front of our Kitchen... they really fascinate me, they just look like really well done models, but .. alive. Just thinking of that makes it an amazing creation, they really are beautiful.

I absolutely adore Bonsais. I have never actually had one before, but my aunt has a couple in her house. I'd really love one since they're stunning to look at, but unfortunately I'm not the best with keeping plants alive. ^^"

Aha, same with me, flower, mine always seem to die. e.e Then again, I'm never the one who looks after my plants, it was my mother who overwatered it. .n.

BONSAI.

I just recently bought a bonsai tree last weekends and it's inspired me to collect them. I've found a few on the internet at cheap prices that look pretty decent. I bought mine at our local mall at a Japanese store. It's pretty neat, especially the pot, since the pot is glass and has glass mountains, a glass man fishing, a mini glass house, and a mini lake, which is the tree's water source. It looks like the tree is giving the man shade from the sun, heck, I'll take a picture and upload it here eventually.

Ooo, sounds very pretty Red. =D Definitely take a picture when you can!

I use to have a Bonsai, but it died a while ago. I'm not entirely sure why it died, since I watered it everyday and trimmed it, but I've been wanting to get a new one for a while now^^

Redsky that pot sounds amazing.

I really want to get a new one myself, Kiv, as my last one died, though I don't want to have to go through having another one die on me again. ;A;

It's not a picture of mine, but it looks almost exactly like it: http://www.bonsaiboy.com/catalog/media/e1433.jpg
The mountains on mine are a bit bigger, but this is just a picture to show you what it pretty much looks like.

Have you guys seen those palm bonsais? They're so cute! I really want to get my hands on one.

I LOVE Bonsai. I used to have one, too - but I left it home till I was on a vacation, and when I returned, it was pretty much dead. Planning on getting a new one. <3

I had one once. People were selling them at the farmer's market at a friendly place downtown, and they were really beautiful. They had little designs, and so I bought one that looked like it was on some lake shore with a boy fishing. He had a little fishing pole and a dog at his side near the lake that was the tree's water source. It was really cool.

I actually just got one about a week ago. It's fairly small, and has a couple growing leaves. I'm scared I might kill it since I'm not much of a plant person, but I'm hopeful it'll survive. xD
It's already starting to grow new leaves, and I found the perfect place for it to stay. :3

Ohmy, I love Bonsais <3 They are probably my favourite sort of plant c:
I've always somewhat wanted a Bonsai, but I'm not much of a 'plant' person, and I'd feel bad if I were to accidentally kill it or something, lol.

I must say...
L O V E Bonsais! They are such adorable plants! At one point I wanted to buy one but I hear they are very tricky to keep healthy and alive?
