Leopard Discussion

Post by valkea » Fri Sep 23, 2011 11:36 am

Didn't see a leopard thread anywhere, sorry if there is.

Anyway, anyone else like leopards? Personally I prefer them over any other big cat(except maybe cheetahs, but that's a different thread). I've always loved leopards, snow leopards are actually my favorite animals XD

Leopards are some of the smallest big cats, and are known mostly for their spots. They're similar to jaguars, though leopards are smaller(and so are the spots). They are also known for their ability to climb trees with heavy carcasses.

If you want to know more about these cats, you can read the Wikipedia article, even though Wikipedia isn't always a completely accurate source - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Leopard

So, discussion time! Tell us what you think~

I love leopards; sometimes I find that they are often overlooked in the big cat family.

One of my favourite animals is the Amur leopard, it's extremely rare (only about 35 left in the wild) but a truly stunning species worth saving. :) I'm really fond of snow leopard too. It is such a shame that so many of them are endangered :c

I was going to mention the Amur Leopard in the first post but I figured I'd end up going on forever about it XDD Beautiful cat, it's a pity they're almost gone. It's also sad that so many people are unaware of them, Amur Leopards tend to get overlooked whenever someone is talking about any kind of big cat.

I love leopards. When I was 5 or 6, I had this leopard plush that I called "Savannah." Leopards are my favorite animals. I love the clouded leopard, amur leopard, and snow leopard. I think the snow leopards are very interesting. :)

Ahhh yes, I must agree. The Amur Leopard is a stunning creature, as are snow leopards. Its quite a shame to see so little left in the wild. =C

I love leopards <3 More the snow ones. I love the way they are white and garceful, and their ice blue eyes. <3

I am a big fan of Leopards, mainly just all big cats xD It is a shame to hear some sub-species of Leopards are almost extinct.

yes, I like leopards too. they're pretty cool animals, though most people don't think much of them. their importance in their environment is underestimated

My favorite species of leopard would have to be the Sunda Clouded Leopard (previously known as the Bornean Clouded Leopard). Unfortunately, it is thought that there are less than 10,000 mature adult individuals remaining. This particular species is restricted to Sumatra and Borneo. I'm quite fond of their design.

I love leopards they are one of a kind i must say i don't think white leopards are spotted very often because they blend in with the snow so well any leopard big or small has it's own way of inspiring people like me i want to work with them and take care of one for one of my career jobs but i don't want to own one even though i dread of doing so i know that these cats are better off in the wild. But i would give any thing to be close to one. :D

Leopards are definitely my favourite wild animal ^-^ They're soooo beautiful and interesting.

And that sounds good, ironhide :) Maybe one day you'll find a nice job working with animals in their natural habitat!
