Rare Rhino with Armed Guards

Post by Selize » Tue Nov 20, 2012 6:05 pm

I didn't check to see if there is currently a topic on this, so if there is just go ahead and lock this. I was also unsure of whether this was in Taking Action or not.

The Javan Rhinoceros is now considered the most endangered mammal on earth. It recently became extinct in Vietnam in a nature preserve where one was found with a bullet in its leg and its horn sawed off. It is estimated that there are only 7 Northern White Rhinoceros (A subspecies of the Javan) left in the world. A few that remain travel their South African homes with armed guards. They are kept in large paddocked areas where they are monitored and checked on daily by staff and specialists. Their guards work 24 hours to ensure they keep the rhino stays safe. Three of the Northern Whites are in captivity in the United States and Czech Republic. Many of the rhinos looked after have no horn due to prior encounters with poachers.

I hope they find a way to save them
I was standling their
wondering why the frisbee
was getting bigger
as it got closer...
And then it hit me.

I wish we could be more like Indians. When they killed something, They used every little bit of the scraps. Skin, meat, everything. In this case people want to kill this animal just for it's horn and throw the body to waste. :x
Darkness breaks,
Moon awakes,
Night now brings the stars it makes.

Moon beams fall,
Light up all,
From silvery woods there comes a call.
