Welcome to the team Jewelz, it's great to see more interest in Green Paws!
Larkarl wrote:Hullo, I'm just wondering- would you guys ever be adding a photographer/journalist position? I'm not exactly sure how it would be incorporated into the team (what I'm thinking is the person will go out and take pictures related to nature, and/or then write a little piece about it), but if such a position existed, I would be interested in joining.
This idea sounds quite interesting, I support it but you will need the go ahead from Zethra ^^ I would also be interested in this position, unless I was required to remain as a Researcher.

Thank you for my acceptance, Domino, and thank you for the welcomes. c:

Adopting an animal sounds like I wonderful idea, I agree, though yes, money may be an issue. I have sponsored an animal from Australia Zoo in the past, a crocodile in fact, I believe that cost $50, although it also came with a gift package. ^^

I have also 'adopted' an animal from Australia Zoo once, if my memory serves me it was a Sumatran Tiger. Australia Zoo is one of the easiest zoos to sponsor an animal and also one of the cheapest. Of course, this is in the Australian Dollar and, despite the rather small minimum donation, the money still goes a long way. For Australia Zoo the annual sponsorship is $75 (AUD), $10 (AUD) per month and $25 (AUD) per quarter of the year. With the 'adoption' you recieve an electronic image of the adopted animal, a fact sheet about the animal, and a subscription to Melbourne Zoo's monthly e-newsletter. There is money and other obstacles, such as filling out the adoption sheet, so we will probably need to discuss a way to solve this and, perhaps, if Green Paws can find a way, which zoo to sponsor an animal from. The below list is of all the animals currently availible for adoption at the Melbourne Zoo.
  • Sumatran Tiger
    Asian Elephant
    Sumatran Orang-utan
    Snow Leopard
    Giraffe
    Meerkat
    Mountain Pygmy Possum
    Orange-bellied Parrot
    Gorilla
    Lion
    Tree Kangaroo
    Dingo
    Red Panda
    Greater Bilby
    Wombat
    Tasmanian Evil (Add 'D')
    Seals
    Corroboree Frog
    Koala
    Hippopotamus
    Platypus
    Cheetah
    Barking Owl
    Rhinoceros
    Zebra
    Giant Tortoise
    Red Kangaroo
    Brown Bear
    Helmeted Honeyeater

No problem Jewelz!
And, thanks for the information Sparky_wolf. I'll be taking a double check at the website, and then discuss it over with my parents about the adoption.

As for Larkarl, I have just added the Journalist position along with information regarding the position.
Hopefully that is what you meant, if you have a better description feel free to PM me.

That's cool, you know Melbourne Zoo? I've been there a couple times and that is probably because I'm Australian too. I love Australia. I donated two times for a koala and a wombat, they were so cute, I got a picture of the koala and wombat I donated for.

Good to see a new position posted up there for some interest, it might just draw more attention to Green Paws. I may think about having a try at that position later on, if it is seen fit at the time.

Yep, been there many times, it's such a fantastic place. I have a thread for it somewhere in the 'Zoos and Wildlife' section of the forums.

Now, for a quick contribution. The below website you may have heard of before but it is rather genius.

One right answer and you have donated ten grains of rice to a foreign community through World Food Programme.
