WolfQuest Hotfix Released

Please go to the downloads page and download a new version of WolfQuest. There are no new features, but a number of bug fixes. We are continuing to work on remaining issues, and we may release one more hotfix before the expansion pack.

Highlights:

1. Saving games now saves your mate status and irons out several other problems with loading and saving a game.

2. Several improvements to the social encounter, including new sounds and smoother animations during mate courtship.

3. You no longer can avoid losing energy by jumping all the time.

4. You can now find other wolves after you hunt elk.

5. The options menu works properly during a social encounter.

6. This version should properly load saved games from previous versions.

7. The Windows installer will now properly show shortcuts on the desktop of all users.

8. You only have to visit each territory once to be able to start looking for a mate.

Well. It sort of worked a little longer on my Vista now. I can walk around for about 20 seconds before it crashes on me...

EDIT: I'm not trying to sound ungrateful for anything; the fixing of the bugs is still a wonderful thing. :3

Will this update the existing WQ installation, or does it have to be a new installation? Anyways, as the wolves are saved as .wolfquest files in the home directory, it's easy to migrate if needed.

EDIT: Ok, so I installed it, and it works as an update; no need to uninstall anything. After installing, I started the game, and I found a mate (much faster than before). When I saved and restarted the game, the "Quest for a mate" box no longer appeared. Yay!
But there's one bug still. It's true we now do not gain stamina by jumping, but now we lose way more stamina when jumping, than we would by running..

Do you still lose ALL you stamina right after biting anything? That's the reason why most of us need the jumping, because if you slow to a walk to follow your elk again, you lose your target, and thanks to the lack of arrows it's well nigh impossible to get it back. :\

Oh no it's not a patch, you just gotta completely uninstall your old game and reinstall the new one. Your saves shouldn't get deleted. Hope this helps I gotta get going.

STOP! You don't have to completely uninstall it! All you do is download it again , then go to the WolfQuest Installer (which should be on your desktop) and click on it. A window will come up. Just click on Update, NOT Uninstall or repair. That will update it fine.
