New Forum Ranks
Re: New Forum Ranks
i agree with every saying that the "human" ranks should be gone. it's too wierd to go from a wolf to biology student...
i would like more ranks but having less points to get them like i'm a pup (still...) and i really want a bigger rank so yeah

Re: New Forum Ranks
While I sort of like how Hoover's ideas stay at wolf level, I sort of don't like them. They seem more like they are pack ranks than they are actual realistic ranks. I like the Subordiante rank! I believe that right now I like Sintact's idea the best.
Is someone suggesting prey-related ranks? I like that idea for some purposes, but I also think that it's better just being wolves. This is a site about wolves, after all. It would be just as weird to go from hare to elk to coyote to bear to wolf . . . I like the more sophisticated wolf ranks. I like them as Cana suggested. It adds higher ranks and it also keeps the old wolf ones.

Re: New Forum Ranks
Wow, great ideas, everyone! Keep 'em coming!
And yes, I will have the poll up in a couple weeks hopefully, so no need to vote on ideas yet... just list them.

Re: New Forum Ranks
I was looking back on the first page, and I like this idea. It was lost on the first page . . . I'll post it.
My idea, along those lines (Combining Morgrin's idea with SolitaryHowl's idea):
Newborn= 1
Pup= 100
Yearling= 300
Dispersal Wolf= 600
Low-Ranker (Or something like that. I'm not sure . . . I don't like the idea of going from Dispersal straight to pack member . . . I think there should be something in-between)= 700
Subordinate Pack Member (Just above Low-Ranker)= 800
Pack Member= 900
Respected Pack Member= 1200
Leading Pack Member= 2500
Pack Leader= 6000
Respected Pack Elder= 10000
I like Solitary's ranks because they are very accurate and very realistic. I like Morgrin's idea as well because that is true, many users would not really be satisfied by waiting that long, as stated.Morgrin wrote:I agree with the removal of "Human" ranks. As for Solitary's ideas, I like them but mabe adding one or two more ranks in there to make it more fun to rank up, because (well at least for me) waitng 5,400 post to rank up would be a little boring.^^SolitaryHowl wrote: Newborn= 0-100
Pup= 101
Yearling=300
Dispersal Wolf= 650
Pack Member = 860
Pack Leader= 6000+
You could add maybe "Respected Pack Member", or something else along those lines between Pack Member and Pack Leader. Then after Pack Leader, you could have maybe "Pack Elder" or "Respected Pack Elder".

Re: New Forum Ranks
Hmmm, honestly I wouldn't like to post a lot for getting a bear chaser rank. I am not denying that the idea isn't good, but I would suggest that the animal ranks should be added before getting a wolf-related rank, that way there should be certain motivation coming from the wolf lovers we have around.
What about the addition of a 'Senior Wolf' rank to the list?
Maybe before all the ranks we should have something simple like "Community Newbie" or "Newcomer" as rank, with a certain avatar for that group... not able to change it until you have some amount of posts around.
Newborn - 0-20 posts
Pup - 20-80 posts
Yearling - 80-400 posts
Subordinate - 400-800 posts
Dispersal Wolf - 800-1500 posts
Pack Leader - 1500-3000 posts
Senior Wolf - 3000 - 5500 posts

Senior Wolf . . . Yes, that does sound like a good idea. I think that Sintact's idea sticks to it very appropriatly. It's realistic and it's spaced out pretty fairly.The other ranks, again, sound good and original, but more for packs than they are for an educational forum.

Nice ideas Sintact ^^ They pretty much hit a realistic point to ranks also the amount of posts that you've put down are nicely and fairly spaced out =) I especially like the Senior Wolf Rank.Sintact wrote:Hmmm, honestly I wouldn't like to post a lot for getting a bear chaser rank. I also like the idea of keeping the ranks wolfy stuff... The human things just don't relate.
0-19: Newborn
20-99: Pup
100-499: Yearling
500-800: Dispersal wolf
801-1000:Pack Member
1001+: Pack leader

Re: New Forum Ranks
not trying to be a backseat mod or anything,but avatars does increase your post count. unless things magically changed overnight,it's only introduce yourself,gtkeo,and games that don't increase your post count.
And since when is there a senior wolf biologist rank? on the wolfquest faq,it says the highest rank is field wolf biologist.
anyways,here's my ideas for new ranks.
12,500-field wolf biologist
0-newborn
change 15,000 from field wolf biologist to exprienced field wolf biologist.
350-pack leader without pups
change 500 to pack leader with pups
17,750-senior wolf biologist
20,000-exprienced senior wolf biologist
35,000-half wolf,half human
50,000-wolfquest forums elder
100,000-no rank;but these users have a really special extra-large avatar that covers up the space where their rank used to be
