The voting is now over! Each week had a different poll with how many posts you think should be required to earn each forum post rank, as well as how some of the ranks should be described. The final rank decisions have been decided; here's our new rank list:
  • First rank: Newborn Wolf, 1 post.
    Second rank: Pup, 20 posts.
    Third rank: Hunter-in-training, 100 posts.
    Fourth rank: Yearling, 250 posts.
    Fifth rank: Sub-adult Wolf, 500 posts.
    Sixth rank: Adult Wolf, 1,000 posts.
    Seventh rank: Dispersal Wolf, 1,750 posts.
    Eighth rank: New Pack Member, 3,000 posts.
    Ninth rank: Skilled Hunter, 5,000 posts.
    Tenth rank: Pack Leader, 10,000 posts.
    Eleventh rank: Experienced Wolf, 20,000 posts.
    Twelfth rank: Pack Elder, 40,000 posts.
    Unobtainable (silly) rank:
    Super Ultimate Mega Wolf, 1,000,000 posts.

Original post:
Hello, all! In order to invigorate the forums a bit, we thought it might be a good idea to add some new post ranks. But this time, we're asking you to determine what ranks should be added and how many posts you need to get them. Below is the current post rank list. The only forums you do not gain rank on are Get to Know Each Other, Forum Games, and Avatars. So come up with some good suggestions for realistic wolf (or wolf-related human) ranks that we can add to the rank list, and how many posts you think are needed to earn that post rank. I'll either put your suggestions in between current rankings, or can potentially change some of the current ranks. I'll let everyone post their suggestions for two weeks, then will compile them all into a list (poll) and will allow everyone to vote for their favorites. More details to come, but for now, just post your ideas for ranks and the number of posts you think are needed to achieve that rank.
  • Current ranks:
    Pup=20
    Yearling=100
    Dispersal wolf=200
    Pack leader=500
    Biology student=1200
    Yellowstone wolf intern=3000
    Graduate student in Biology=8000
    Field wolf biologist=15000
    Senior wolf biologist=20000

This is very interesting indeed =D Maybe you could add Different types of wolves? (examples: Grey wolf, Artic wolf etc.) Also as for humans I think Wolf Keeper, Wolf Keeper Volunteer , Wolf Tracker, Wolf Behaviorist and Wolf Conservation Officer =D

I hope you like my ideas for ranks ^_^

I like the Lurker and Loner idea, only I think the loner should be Dispersal.
Pup- 20
Yearling- 50
Dispersal wolf- 110
Pack member- 300
Pack leader- 550

I like all the human ones as they are.

maybe pack member inbetween dispersal wolf and pack leader? because i dont think (you might i dont know) go from no pack to pack leader, unless you have pups like SC

I would second the Wolf Tracker and Wolf Keeper ones in particular. ^^ The latter maybe with a qualifier such as Wolf Haven Keeper--referring to Wolf Haven in Tenino, WA.

Newborn- 0pn(posts needed to achieve this rank)

Pup- 50pn

Adolescent- 100pn

Yearling- 200pn

Dispersal Wolf- 500pn

Omega- 1000pn

Subordinate- 2000pn

Beta- 5000pn

Alpha/Pack Leader- 10000pn

I believe that the human rank thing should be gotten rid of (eek... bad grammar!) just because it's kind of... weird... to go from a Pack Leader to a Biology Student... just my idea =) My list only goes up to ten thousand posts, just because barely anyone has any more than that...

I know it doesn't affect me, but I think the rank names should be changed to just 'wolfy' stuff...and maybe have the posts amount increased a little bit to make it more of a challenge. (It's weird when your 'wolf' ranks all of a sudden change to human ones.)

Newborn= 0-100
Pup= 101
Yearling=300
Dispersal Wolf= 650
Pack Member = 860
Pack Leader= 6000+

Don't forget to add how many points you think we need to achieve the ranks! (Silverwolf etc.) :)

Edit: and if you think we should keep it all to wolf stuff, rather than integrating human ranks after a certain point, I'll make that an option on the polls as well and the vote will decide.

I will not add the terms 'alpha', 'beta', 'omega', etc. because they're so often misused. The man who coined the phrases, Dave Mech, is part of the WolfQuest Development Team, and has requested that we no longer use them because of the misunderstandings they sometimes cause. So sorry, I won't be adding those to the poll as options. But you can try thinking of something else!

I agree with the removal of "Human" ranks. As for Solitary's ideas, I like them but mabe adding one or two more ranks in there to make it more fun to rank up, because (well at least for me) waitng 5,400 post to rank up would be a little boring.^^

You could add maybe "Respected Pack Member", or something else along those lines between Pack Member and Pack Leader. Then after Pack Leader, you could have maybe "Pack Elder" or "Respected Pack Elder".

As I stated in my previous post, I agree with the removal of human ranks, and thanks to Cana if she decides to follow through with the poll idea...
