New version: 2.7 for tablet -- and Mac/Windows!
Re: New version: 2.7 for tablet -- and Mac/Windows!
That's great news! I can't wait for the game. Perhaps go with the IAP structure for better wolf customization- different pelts/textures/accessories/eye colours can be bought? That would allow us to mess with the already amazing character creator by buying the things we want, also helping the funding for a new episode.
Would you have to buy everything again when a new episode came out though?

I'd happily beta test the gameShadesOfJay wrote:WOW! So glad to hear that. I know I will definitely get it on both the computer and the app!
But, does that mean we have to pay twice the amount to get the things in both Computer and Tablet? It is not a problem for me, but it might be for some people.
EDIT: will there be a new reign of beta testers for Tablet and Computer?

Awww yeah!
I agree that such awesome wolfiness can't be restricted to a tablet.

Yes, what will happen with beta testers (when the game is ready)? A whole new crop, or just the original folks? I too would love to beta test. Of course, you might choose to not use forum members at all.Kamaji wrote:I'd happily beta test the gameShadesOfJay wrote:WOW! So glad to hear that. Anyway, I'm so glad this will be available to computers–priced or not.

As a side note, will the original base pelts be free with other customizations costing money? Sorry if I missed something obvious lol.

Yep, the original/current five fur colours will be free; the new ones will be available as in-app purchases.

The free version will still be avaliable in some form; you will not be forced to pay for the update if you do not want to. The new version will have new features, and to reflect the choice for payment in the tablet version of the game, this update coming to Mac/Windows must do something similar.Riverwolf2000 wrote:Whoaw u mean Us members on the computer Will hav to pay to play this game shock: that's horrible no affense but it's wrong to make existing members start paying for this game when some of us can't afford to spend money on these games we play gem bc there fun and free we should not have to start paying for it now

It's thanks to Minnesota Zoo that National Science Foundation grants, donation money and potentially other sources were secured to help keep WolfQuest free since its launch back in 2007. Feel free to correct me if I am wrong. Take into account that the zoo is and has been gradually putting itself at a distance from the project to focus on other things since December '12, then it is completely fair for the remaining developer to put up an asking price if it benefits the project and helps to support its future. This helps Eduweb cover their expenses and can be seen as being the decider for future development.
Here's some food for thought: if the team offered the new version for free with no price tag whatsoever, how do you expect to see new content? The team has shrunk since episode 2 was released. Models, scripts/coding, textures, sounds, assets, audio, mapping... they all take time and most do cost money. The store no longer forwards its proceeds to this project which has been in effect since the beginning of '13. The option to send your own donations was pulled around the same time.
The tablet app will include Amethyst Mountain, completely free of charge. Slough Creek, the new multiplayer map, "other modes" and all optional customizations will not be free, ranging from $1-$3 each. I'd recommend taking a peek at these threads for further information regarding the pricing plan- As was stated in the WolfQuest for iPad? topic, the app will be available for less than $5. I do think it's completely fair of the team to apply a fee. The current version will still be available even after the new version goes live.

Yay! It's gonna be on the computer! Saves me money (in a sense). I'm glad that there will be a computer version. *Awaits arrival of WolfQuest 2.7*
Re: New version: 2.7 for tablet -- and Mac/Windows!
AWESOME news!!! Though please, please also release for phones too!! Leave it up to users if want to play on smaller screen or not. From the info here if you DO release on phone I would buy for Windows AND phone so could always play wolfquest!
I mean I recently paid $10 for Baldur's Gate 2 in Iphone, if they can do it I'm sure Wolfquest can...and i would be mote than willing to pay!
By the way how much longer for Windows version after the tablet one comes out?
